I like those. They're all wonderful suggestions. Are there going to be book-shots for the rest? ^_^
Shouldn't that be "The Catgirls :3"? ...DeathBySurfeit, taking things too seriously
- And, um, wouldn't magical girls be better as Sidereal equivalents? ...DeathBySurfeit, obviously dwelling on the matter more than is healthy
- Helping goddesses have a tie to heaven like the Sidereals; Magical Girls usually do not. Also, most magical girls UTTERLY LACK SUBTLETY. :) --JohnBiles
OOoooh... this I like... I like... lots... =^_^= haku at work
I made some changes to reformat my own ideas from rpg.net :) --JohnBiles
- Shouldn't the Scarlet Empress be Neo-Empress Scarlet? I think N-ES is cuter. Drakensis
- Why would the Bishonen be the Solars? If you have both Bishonen and any other group on the list, the Bishonen instintly becomes the glorified cheerleader/sidekick/romantic interest - Their never the main heroes exempt in stories that have only Bishonen. - Dasmen vanishes in a storm of rose petals
- But there's lots of stories that do have them as the protagonists, and they tend to be shown as excelling at whatever it is they do. Note that Tuxedo Kamen, for example, is stronger than any of the Sailor Senshi, even if he does tend to stand back and wait for them to need saving... Also, it sets up men for the catgirls to have married in the first age :) --JohnBiles
- He's weaker then Pluto, Uranus, Neptune, Saturn, and when she get serious, Moon. It also isn't restricted to Sailor Moon - In everything from Juebi=Chan, to Slayers, to Pretear, El Hazard, to Magic Knights Rayearth, they get pushed to the sidelines, or at least have people belonging to one of the other groups being more potent. Bishonen do have stoies where they have center stage, but only when the story doen't have one of the otehr groups also. - Dasmen sinks through the ground and is gone.
- But there's also stories like Escaflowne, X, Tsubasa Reservoir, Orphen, etc, where the Bishonens take the lead, despite the presence of other types as well. They fill the whole role of the male action hero as well as being love interests and side-kicks. And who else would you put in their place? --JohnBiles
- I wouldn't try to mach up the splats at all - Catgirls have a very differnt character (cuter, usually more subtle, often quite weak) then Lunars - helping goddesses often have more in common with Solar Sorrcerers then anything, Robot Girls go from one end of the spectrum to the other - so I would try to come up with some way of making each splat very broad, rather then trying to match them up. - Dasmen is sucked into a portal to the darkness
- Dasmen, you're taking the wrong perspective. A Bishounen-centric campaign is a harem anime where the one hot guy is the center of it all and all the other splats are there to fall in love with him. I remember someone saying on the wiki in the longago that "Solars don't have very unusual means, they're just very good at getting their ends achieved through straightforward ones". Similarly, the one guy at the center of the harem anime may have less Fantabulous Magical Power than the girls around him, but he is nonetheless The Guy Who The Plot Is About and that is a special power all its own. Of course, in a Magical Girls campaign, the story is different, just as a Solar operates differently in a Dragon-Blooded campaign. --Ben-San
Hmmm... I think I've said it's cute... hmmm... don't magical girls also tend to have weaknesses vs bishonens? Which might be a carry-over from the 'First Age'. ^_-
~ Haku
- Yep! --JohnBiles
- You know, we have to make use of the Harem genre for the first age to explain the grouping of a single Bishie with a catgirl companion, a helping goddess and a pack of magical girls... This is almost like the SI Ranma/Tenchi harem that you see floating about. ~ haku who wonders if Ta'averen 1/2 or Parallel Lives is still being worked on.
- Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. As for T 1/2 and PL, I will eventually return to them, but right now, I seek a permanent full time job somewhere, having FINALLY gotten my Ph.D. --JohnBiles
- Ah... I understand that, althou, it IS nice to see another FFMLer out here. Hmmm, I do have a question, would there be a devious demonesses as a counter part to the Helping Goddesses or are they just different hats that the goddesses wear? And Bishies who got taken down and possesses far too much angst, broodiness become loli goths? ^_^
~ haku who is a master lurker

- Yes, the Yozis would be the source of the Devious Demonesses who oppose the Helping Goddesses. And yeah, the Lords of Cute Angst who created the Gothic Lolitas were former First Age Bishonens who fell to the Brooding side :) --JohnBiles
.. I'd so buy this ^^ Can't wait til it's all fleshed out :) FluffySquirrel
There are no words to express the way I feel. BRILLIANT! - Trithne
Epsilon, very brilliant summary of charm categories! I like it very much. --JohnBiles
Nice job on the Gothic Lolita cover! --JohnBiles
I'm in utter awe... a part of me is impressed beyond words, another part of me wants to die because this exists, and even more of me wants to die when I think about the time and energy invested in it, and the excitement this project seems to create. --UncleChu shudders in terror, and wipes away a single tear before returning to his desk to draw a totally kick-ass picture of a Solar fighting demons.
- We'll take that as a complement. --JohnBiles smiles with big eyes gleaming, then doodles a totally cute picture of SD helping goddesses chasing a demon around with giant mallets.
Aaaaagh. Now see what you've done? I want to play this. ~ WeepingStar
- When we're done with it, it will be playable, so... --JohnBiles
- So I'm going to have to somehow scrounge together a group of gamers who won't just hit me in the face for suggesting it. :P ~ WeepingStar
- Well, I'm going to want to playtest at some point. --JohnBiles
- Ooh ooh ooh, I want to be involved somehow! ~ WeepingStar
- Well, I haven't figured out how I'll playtest, but enthusiasm = good :) Of course, helping to write it all would advance the day when playtesting can happen. ^_- --JohnBiles

I cleaned out the old comments and archived them. Magical Girls are now playable. Catgirls just need their Charm Set to be playable. If anyone else wants to help write charmsets, I won't throw myself in your path :) If anyone wants to try building some sample Magical Girls, that would be good to, see if the MG charmset provides enough utility for a starting char or if any holes suddenly present themselves. -- JohnBiles
- Oh, I so have to be a part of this!!! May I? May I!? MAY I!? I feel like taking my chances with the Helping Goddesses or the Gothic Lolitas (you've just got to love the Gothic Lolitas). --Wings
- A victim...a helper! :) If you want to take on doing charms for the Helping Goddesses or the Gothic Lolitas, please do so! I would be most grateful! I'm likely going to try and muster the mental strength for the Catgirl charm set next. -- JohnBiles
- Then the Gothic Lolitas it is! Please look forward to it......I am. --Wings
Wings came up with a pretty good system for Limit for the Gothic Lolitas, but I am blanking in my head on how to handle it for everyone else. Suggestions would be appreciated! --JohnBiles
Moved more old comments. Bishonen, Catgirls, and Magical Girls are all now playable, or so I think. I will be finishing the Helping Goddess charms next, which may drive me over the brink of Madness. Wings is working on Gothic Lolita stuff. We probably have enough material for a playtest of some kind, I think. Especially once the Helping Goddess charms are finished. --JohnBiles
- Checked out the Bishonen Charms. Nice stuff there. And they definitely help me with the Gothic Lolitas, being angsty versions of the Bishonen and all. --Wings
Keep up the good work. I have only one comment - I know you're (very effectively) parodying the original charmtypes, but you sorely need a new one in a few cases. Many subtle/mental charms are neither subtle nor mental, and thus should possibly be classified as something else. The only vaguely funny idea I can come up with is "Blatent But Quick, but everyone finds that too long and so calls them BBQ charms."
-- Darloth
- Heh! Having two categories that really work essentially the same way with regard to combos, etc, would probably just confuse people, though. --JohnBiles
It suddenly hit me that the Games of Divinity in this universe are clearly a giant Dance Dance Revolution Machine. --JohnBiles
- Now that's hilarious. At this point we'll have to make a Kawaii equivalent of every single Exalted book. Since I seem to be in charge of the Gothic Lolita project, I guess I'll be taking the "Book of Brood and Black Lace". In any case, I apologize for taking so long with the Lolita Charms, they're truly a demanding job. I've only managed to finish the first Caste so far (Archery, Brawl, Martial Arts, Melee and Thrown). I'll post that tomorrow, I guess. I also got something done on Limit Break for Bishounens/Bishoujos. Please look forward to it. --Wings
- Yeah, but your charms have vastly better flavor text than most of mine, in part because I write like a madman. And the limit breaking stuff for Bishonens = SWEET. As my brain is too full of charm-making to think right for that right now.
- Also, Magical Girls are go! -- JohnBiles
This is pretty hilarious, reminds me of your World of Darkness Sailor Moon thing. Which was literally one of the most amazing things I've ever seen on the internet. _Ikselam
- Hi, Ikelsam! Glad you're enjoying it! Yeah, I had a lot of fun with my WOD Sailor Moon rules. They even got me compliments from a White Wolf employee, so... :) --JohnBiles
I am horribly, horribly tempted to start working on Alien Prince(sse)s, but I'd like to poke around to see where the cover-making stuffs it first, because all the links on MUran's site 404. And... yeah. Corn. --RakshaBoy
- That would be cool! I have a bunch of the covers that MUran made, so if you have one in mind, I can throw it up on my webspace for you to grab. --JohnBiles
Added Dream Combat Link 5/1/06 -- JohnBiles
...my god. Its a sign of the apocalypse. But an interesting one. --Rynel
- A sign of a cute apocalypse :) I expect we'll be ready for playtesting soon, once Gothic Lolitas gets finished. (Heck, there's enough for playtesting now.) -- JohnBiles
Added Intro. 5/6/06 -- JohnBiles
Y'know, I'm not sure enough people have heard of Over The Edge to get the joke behind the Little Big Book of Evil. But I do! MWAHAHA! (Eye Heart Clyde). -- Darzoni
- Hehe. Last time I played in an Over the Edge game, we ended it by destroying the universe. Great Game. The whole 'shadow of a book yet to be written' thing made me suddenly think of the Throckmorton Device. --JohnBiles
This is just a polite request, but could you please, please start to use the Minor Edit tickbox more when you're posting for the Kawaii edition? I understand that you want to tell everyone about your latest additions, but rather than filling up the RecentChanges with Major edits, can't you instead minor edit most of the pages, and then Major edit this one to inform people about the new content? - Kraken
- My policy is pretty much to use major edit when I create a new page full of stuff, then use minor edit after that for any changes to it, unless I am replying to someone's comments on a page, or make a really huge addition to it. --JohnBiles
- I have noticed this policy. My previous post was not ignorance of it. The request was that you modify your policy somewhat, because the approaching a dozen edits per day is starting to get a little annoying. - Kraken
- Though I believe Mr. Biles should burn in the Hell of Molten Cotton Candy for this project, I gotta say that each of his updates do provide real content, and thus, iMHO, has every right to post them as Major. Its not his fault his brain keeps spewing forth this stuff. However, I must say a little piece of me dies each time I click one open to look at. --UncleChu
