Adaptation
These are low-level Alchemical Charms. As is standard for Alchemical Charms, they have Attribute prerequisites, has an installation cost, and each has two related but distinct functions. Installation costs are lower for subsequent Charms than for Prerequisites.
Caloric Regulatory Sheath (Quendalon)
Cost: 5 motes Installation Cost: 1 mote Duration: One scene Type: Simple Min. Stamina: 2 Min. Essence: 1 Prerequisite Charms: None
Strands of red and blue jade are threaded through the Alchemical’s skin, allowing her to adapt to extreme temperatures. For the rest of the scene, she is immune to mundane extremes of heat and cold. In addition, she adds her Essence to her soak when defending against elemental attacks based on heat or cold. An Alchemical with this Charm may commit motes to it so that it lasts indefinitely.
Enviro-Adaptive Visual Defense (TedPro)
Cost: 1 mote/die, or 5 motes Installation Cost: 1 mote Duration: One scene Type: Simple Min. Stamina: 3 Min. Essence: 2 Prerequisite Charms: Caloric Regulatory Sheath
Building on existing threads of jade, tracework of moonsilver is etched into the Alchemical's skin surface, with embedded pigment particles. These particles allow the Exalt to alter skin tone to match the surrounding environment, giving a +1 to Stealth rolls per mote of Essence committed. This only applies for rolls to resist being seen, and is subject to normal limits for dice pool bonuses.
Alternately, for 5 motes, the Enviro-Adaptive Visual Defense can be activated to form a wild and disorienting display of colors in patterns that suggest optical illusions and trick the eye. While this is in effect, all attacks against the Alchemical Exalt have difficulty raised by 2. This is a visibility penalty.
Foreign Essence Affinity Matrix (Quendalon)
Cost: None Installation Cost: 1 mote Duration: Permanent Type: Special Min. Stamina: 2 Min. Essence: 2 Prerequisite Charms: None
This Charm enhances an Alchemical's ability to attune to and assimilate Essence. She may now gain Essence at her full normal rate in any environment, including the Underworld and Malfeas. In addition, she may harmonize with artifacts of any of the Five Magical Materials. This Charm is composed of soulsteel nodules that cluster around the Alchemical's Essence reservoir.
Tenfold Meridian Inscription Channel Telgar
Cost: None / 7 motes Installation Cost: 2 motes Duration: Permanent / One scene Type: Special Min. Stamina: 3 Min. Essence: 3 Prerequisite Charms: Foreign Essence Affinity Matrix
Installed as a circle of Starmetal glyphs at each meridian point on the Alchemical's body, this system assimilates Hearthstones into the Alchemical's body, granting him the Essence regeneration of the Stone and access to its powers.
Whenever the Alchemical wishes he may expend three motes to flood the Hearthstone's runic setting with power, causing it to spill its own power into his body. The Alchemical gains 5 soak against all attacks based on the element that matches the Hearthstone's aspect. Celestial aspects give soak against Charms such as Blasing Solar Bolt and Crypt Bolt that channel the Celestial essence directly. When this mode is active the runes also add the Alchemical's Essence in damage to attacks against creatures of the element in question.
Invisible (Metal) Fire Duplication Apparatus - FourWillowsWeeping
- Cost: 1 Willpower
- Installation Cost: 3 motes (1 mote)
- Duration: One Scene
- Type: Special
- Min. Stamina: 5
- Min. Essence: 3
- Prerequisite Charms: Caloric Regulatory Sheath, Tenfold Meridian Inscription Channel
These long, segmented barbels are attached at strategic places on the Alchemical's face and joints. They are available in each of the Five Magical Materials; this Charm can be installed multiple times, with the second and further installations costing 1 mote rather than 3. They serve to track and sculpt the Essence flows of the nearby environment. If an Alchemical of the Caste corresponding to the material of the barbels activates a Charm within (permanent Essence) yards of the wearer, he becomes aware of it and may commit 1 Willpower, in addition to the installation cost of his compatriot's Charm. While the Willpower and motes remain committed, this Charm retains memory of the other Charm's Essence pattern, and the Alchemical is able to duplicate its effects as though he had the Charm himself. However, using pseudo-Charms in this way is especially difficult; increase the mote of Charms by their Essence requisite. In addition, the barbels allow the Exalt to move through their associated material with grace and ease, as though through the air; for jade, one installation of the Charm will provide freedom of movement in one element. For Celestial aspects, this ability is not particularly useful, but black, green, and white jade all provide flexible and profound abilities.

Knowing -which- tree would be appreciated. I suggest Stamina or Wits myself, but I'll leave it up to you. Adaptation is rather wide, after all, especially for alchemical charms.

Pick one, man. The person that posts the first item in a CharmRelay gets to set the tone for the tree. Check out the cool funkiness in Distant Thunder. - willows
Great Charm, Quendalon! -TedPro
- Thanks! Very interesting secondary effect on EAVD, by the way. - Quendalon
- Gosh, thank you. It seemed like an interesting and useful opposite to the usual Predator-style camouflage. Plus this way you get walking Exalted op-art. -TedPro
I will post a theme in the morning. - willows
