It is generally good practice to avoid using [[double brackets]] except when your page title has only one word; if it has two or more words, JamThemTogether. It's maybe not as pretty, but it is easier to type in when you or others want to make a link to the page.
Also be sure to provide a back-link to a child page's parent unless it is aYour_Comments/Subpage.
But hey, all that stuff aside, glad to see another person on the wiki!

Oh my. Thanks, dude! Should I go back and change the links I've already made, or will that screw things up even more?
Also, if you make a link called SOMETHING, and someone else makes a link called SOMETHING ... do both links lead to the same page? Because I tried to make a link called "Characters" and it ended up linking to an existant page with info on how to make characters....

Yes, collisions occur if you make a link with the same name as an existing link.
If you find that you have made a page that you want to call something else, or want to put its content elsewhere, or whatever, just move all the stuff over to the new page. Then delete everything on the old page and leave #REDIRECT NewPage on the first line. That way any links to the old page will automatically bounce people to the new page. #REDIRECT must occur on the first line of the page, and its target shouldn't include double brackets (even if you would normally have to type them to wikify the link).
I added a redirect for you. Alabrax
Lots of content. I'll actually browse through it at some point, but not at the moment, as I am somewhat busy at the office. Your proliferation of pages is rather silly; there's absolutely no need to give every single Charm or Artifact its very own page, as all this does is make it necessary for the reader to keep switching between pages in order to look around. - Quendalon
Hmmm ... 'praps. I kind of like it that way, though. For one thing my artifact entries are really long. Also I like to link to the individual charms and artifacts for easy reference in the monster pages so people can click on the charms the monsters have without having to go through a list. The idea did occur to me to make a "master list" for each section, though, so I'll definitely do that now after I upload all the content I've written.
If you want to use a pagename that is used elsewhere, hang it off your own page. For example [[Your_Comments/Characters]] would create your own Characters page, as a subpage.\\ \\ On a different note, I love the Sea of Chaos concept and think you have developed it very nicely. Your artifacts are complex and do need a page each ... for example as a storyteller I would have to fudge what happened to the armor each round, and its a little too complex to give to a player. ^_^ I am really looking forward to seeing some of your exalted fae ... - BrokenShade
[[Your_Comments/Characters]] would create your own Characters page, as a subpage
I don't think you even need the brackets for subpages.\\ _Ikselam
Not to be awkward or anything but I really think this stuff should be in subpages rather than spread all across the Wiki... It's just tidier and neater and saves causing problems in the future... I'd be happy to move stuff/help move stuff if you wanted... - CorlanDashiva
Agreed. - Quendalon
Eh, it's not that big a deal to my eyes. His page names are distictive -- it's not like there are going to be a whole lot of collisions with MasterOfEntropicFlows or whatever -- so it's not the problem it might be if he was making pages with very generic names like MyMeleeCharms. It seems weird to put each Charm on its own page, but it looks like AlladAlhazred did a decent job of making sure they're all tied together and indexed, so there would really be no point to turning them all into subpages or glomming them together. I think his approach is kind of wacky, but I'm not going to call it wrong. It's still accessible, which is really all that matters. I don't imagine that having a bunch of little pages instead of three or four big ones is cluttering up the database too too much.
I'm not too worried about database problems, I'm simply thinking of other posters. The Sea of Chaos material is great and unique, and I agree that naming conflicts are unlikely with it, but they are not impossible. There is also the fact that new people to the Wiki will see it done like that and will do the same, leading to more potential conflicts and problems. I think it should be general policy that anything that is a house rule or home-brewed campaign should be written as sub-pages from your user page or from an appropriate main page. The main pages should be saved for user pages and generic categories (like Charms or Sorcery) that apply to all games - CorlanDashiva
Well, it's done now, and it is outstanding work, so let's not have poor AlladAlhazred change it. But let's be sure to discourage people from doing it that way in the future, okay? :) -- DaveFayram
I could change it if it's a problem! What would you guys recommend? Should I just add an Your_Comments/Allad" in front of all my links? --AlladAlhazred
Well, you'd actually want to add Your_Comments/AlladAlhazred", since that's your full user name. We wouldn't want to inconvenience someone else who showed up using the name "Allad". :) And changing the links means that you also have to copy the existing content from each page and paste it into the new page generated by the new link, then put a redirect on the old page. It'll be a pain, considering how many pages you have. But it will restore peace to the Wiki and usher in a new golden age. - Quendalon
You guys have it backwards. If you want TheSeaOfChaos, to be in AlladAlhazred's domain, you'd say AlladAlhazred/TheSeaOfChaos. From the page titled AlladAlhazred you could just make a link toYour_Comments/TheSeaOfChaos. That is by far the best division for it. \\ -- DaveFayram
Yikes. That is a daunting task. Well, I can't promise that I'll relink everything anytime soon, but I will get on it! I do think I'll just make the names Allad/SeaofChaos instead od AlladAlhazred/SeaofChaos; it's shorter and it's not like Allad is my real name anyway (it's my character's, who is a desert messiah) ... I doubt it's anyone else's real name either. -- AlladAlhazred
I would not worry too much about altering your existing stuff. Just keep subpages in mind when you make more stuff. If the current format bothers someone a whole lot, they'll change it for you.\\ _Ikselam
