Essence Attunement Technique

Cost:None
Duration:Permanent
Type:Special
Minimum Occult:1
Minimum Essence:2

Solars are among the most powerful of all Exalts, able to call upon some of the most potent sorceries and Charms imaginable. Yet, even the most powerful of the Chosen of the Sun most call upon the aid of a Daiklaive, or of Orichalcum armor, or even an amulet for their hearthstone, from time to time. Through attunement, Exalted champions are able to forge powerful connections with these items, until the bonds between hand and weapon begin to blur. Through this charm, a Solar may blur those bonds further, truly becoming one with her Artifacts. For each time this Charm is taken, the Solar adds 10 motes of essence to her pool which may only be used in commiting to an Artifact. If her commitment total for all her Artifacts does not reach 10, the extra motes from this charm remain unusable (until the Solar attunes another Artifact). If the commitment pool exceeds 10, the Solar must still pay for the attunement from her own Personal and Peripheral pools. The motes granted by this Charm are considered Personal, that is, no anima banner is shown when the Solar first uses these motes to attune the Artifact. Characters cannot take this Charm more times than their permanent Essence rating.

Comments

I designed this charm directly after the fashion of the Abyssal's Essence Engorgement Technique and the Alchemical's Auxilary Essence Storage Unit. I didn't feel it necessary for every Exalt to have an "extra Essence" Charm, but I felt this Charm was very balanced and made sense for the Solars. It would, perhaps, make better sense for the Dragon-blooded, but I feel it works for Solars too. Feel free to tell me what you think, but please read up on the aforementioned canon Charms, too! ~~Gorol

Actually, I love this Charm. It's a wonderful compromise between giving the Solars a magic point bonus Charm, and keeping it in theme with the Solar feel. I can just imagine how buff Solars would get with a few instances of this Charm and some very high-commitment gear. - Balthasar

I like it. I'd like to see what sort of thing you'd give the Dragon-Blooded as well though. :p - CorlanDashiva

First of all I have to say I love the idea of both of these charms, they are very cool ideas (and good charms) :) However if you look at it from a First Age perspective, where the solars had their own custom forged artifact 4 and 5's, and the dragonblooded footsoldiers had more generic 3s or 4s, would it not make more sense that the solars had the specific 'this is my weapon' attunment charms, and the DB had the generic attunement charm. though form the modern perspective the converse is true to an extent with ancestral DB weapons and solars grabbing for any artifacts they can find. Just a thought. - Kraken

I suppose you're right, Kraken; but, don't forget, most Exalted can invent their own Charms. So, we'll just say that these were the Charms invented only recently. Ja? ~~Gorol

Well, that gives me an idea. Thanks, Kraken! - FourWillowsWeeping

Hey, that is a cool Charm. I think I might allow it as an option in future games. I mean, that's what most folks I think use Essence-Engorgement Technqieu for anyhow. Though, the only tweak I would make is make it Lore. It sems to be that Lore deals with non-Sorcery Essence-manipulation more then Occult does if you ask me. Note that hting slike Essence-Lending Method, Elemental Bolt, Crypt Bolt, and other Essency stuff is Lore. And stuff. --Blaque
