I'd vote for yours if it included the revision of "strength x 10 yards" instead of "strength x 10 feet". I mean, seeing as we can already jump strength + athletics in yards, strength x 3 in yards is a kinda wimpy improvement. Plus, it seems like yards are the distance measurement of choice in mechanics. -[[Kicker]] | I'd vote for yours if it included the revision of "strength x 10 yards" instead of "strength x 10 feet". As per similar changes for Lightning Speed, allows this charm to be comboed. I think the wording already makes it clear that it's a single-action use, but if not (don't have my book here), adding such language would be appropriate. - Toram
-Kicker
Good points, Toram and Kicker. ^_^ In fact, I would prefer (Str + Athletics) x 10 yards more, so I have added such a version above. -- BrokenShade
As a minor aid to anyalsis I supply this chart of DOOM!
s is strength, a is athletics, ML is Monkey Leap, all numerical values are in feet
s1 s2 s3 s4 s5 a0 03 06 09 12 15 a1 06 09 12 15 18 a2 09 12 15 18 21 a3 12 15 18 21 24 a4 15 18 21 24 27 a5 18 21 24 27 30
ML 10 20 30 40 50
I tweaked the format of your table a little, Malikai. Hope you don't mind. --MF
Makes sense to me. - Toram
No problem, I also realized that the Sidereal Jumping charm (Forgotten Earth, p 175) costs one mote and triples jumping distances. Athletics 2, Essence 1, no charm pre-requisites. Monkey Leap Tech only requires an Athletics of 1 and an Essence of 1, one charm pre-requisite and a 1 mote activation. Apparently Sidereals are better jumpers - Malikai
I think there is nothing wrong in that Sidereals have a more efficient jumping charm. Their charms are more refined, as they are at the brink of Sidereal power. Changing all the Solar charms to that level would be a bad idea (which perhaps is slowly happening here at the fixit pages), because that leaves no room of improvement. --Clebo
- Actually, judging by the core book note on 'don't allow simply more efficent versions of existing Charms', your logic doesn't really make sense. A new Solar jumping Charm would needest be notibly different- not simply more efficent. DS
