Primjerak, the Longing Blade, Demon of the First Circle

Progeny of the Living Tower

- by Moxiane

A primjerak (plural: primjera) is a demon with one but one purpose in life – combat. Soldiers in the armies of Malfeas, the primjera are often summoned by Exalted sorcerers and conjurers as bodyguards, assassins or shock troops, capable of cutting their way through a talon of troops in short order. They appear largely human in overall shape, although this impression does not last beyond the first real look, hence the vast majority of those summoned into Creation wear large voluminous robes that conceal almost all their features, or they remain in places with little or no light.

Their skin is extremely pale and drawn, their bald heads have long faces with eyes of pure black and subtly pointed teeth. Beyond the large robes that they wear, their bodies are wrapped in tight-fitting clothes that appear to be leather studded with small brass rivets. When in combat they have wickedly sharp claws that they can use in a pinch, but they prefer to use the enormous greatswords that the primjera have when summoned. It is this weapon, and their skill with it, that makes them so inhumanly effective in combat, as well as the few Charms that each primjerak has at its command. This weapon, while it is their strength, is also their major weakness – should a primjerak ever become separated from its weapon it will take one level of unsoakable lethal damage per turn until it is returned. Should the weapon somehow be destroyed, then the demon is instantly destroyed along with it. This has lead savants of the demonic to speculate that sword is the true demon, and the “body” is used purely to wield it in combat. The truth of this may never be known, though.

Primjera come in both male and female forms, although this does not appear to affect them in any way.

Hi! I took the liberty to change the alignment of the text for the new charms. I like the demon, it may be inspired by Ninja Scroll TV. I thought that maybe there should be two versions of the same demon, one for body-guard protecting, and the other for aggressive combat. Also, I like the fact that you have created new Spirit charms, something people are really not into. Oh, also, who is the writer of this demon? All in all, I like this. Clebo

No problem. :) There was no real inspiration for this one, it was the first demon one of my players summoned, so I made up some basic stats for it and then went from there. I think I got the name from Georgian, at least I remember sending the phrase "demon sword" into a bunch of translation websites to get a cool-sounding name. The whole thing is pre-GoD, so I really had to make up Charms for it. --Moxiane

This is pre-GoD? Damn, very, very nice. --Gorol

Thought you might like to know - I used this Demon in my game, as bodyguards for Octavian, and played particularly on the swords being the true demon and the bodies just husks - and my player's loved them - Voidstate

Mucho thanks for the comments. I'll have to chuck out a few more of the low-level demons I've made. Oh, and any suggestions as to where to place this in the Taxonomy of Madness thing would be most welcome. - Moxiane

I'm not sure where to put these guys in the Taxonomy; either you should select a 2nd Circle Demon as their progenitor, or you can create a new page in the Taxonomy for demons of unknown provenance. - Quendalon
