The Perfected Panoply of Alchemical Duplication of Reality and Orders Celestial, Terrestrial and Abyssal.

Artifact: N/A

The Perfected Panoply of Alchemical Duplication of Reality and Orders Celestial, Terrestrial and Abyssal is a pillar of Adamant, four feet high and one foot in radius. At the very bottom of the pillar is a disc of Soulsteel, extending to a foot all around the pillar and three inches thick, perfectly smooth and featureless, apart from a ring of Adamant along the very centre of the edge of the disc. about one foot up the pillar, another disc sits, this one made of Jade, with an inner ring of White Jade, then the different colours of Jade in different quarters, reflecting the layout of the elemental poles of Creation. This disc is also three inches thick, and has a ring of Adamant along it's edge. Another foot up, a disc of Starmetal sits, in the same shape as the other two, with similar ring of Adamant. Another foot up, there is a Moonsilver disc, and finally, at the top is a disc of Orichalcum.

The Perfected Panoply of Alchemical Duplication of Reality and Orders Celestial, Terrestrial and Abyssal can only be activated by a either a perfect Assembly of Alchemicals, one of each caste, or a circle of five of Creation's Exalts, one of each Exalt-type that can attune to a different Magical Material. Each of the five Exalts must attune to the artifact, at no attunement cost. In order to activate it, the 5 must spend 100 motes of Essence and 5 Willpower, each. This expenditure must be made simultaneously and completely, although they do not need to be touching the artifact. A perfect circle of Dragon-Blooded is needed to fulfil their role, as all five elements need to be present, which also splits their Essence expenditures to 20 motes and 1 Willpower each. The Essence spent to activate the artifact is Committed until the operation is completed, which takes a year and a day.

The artifact needs to be in the Wyld in order to function, meaning that whoever bears it needs to be strong enough to maintain their form, as forcibly created reality in the vicinity of the artifact will interfere with it's operation. The artifact itself seems to be perfectly immune to the effects of the Wyld, however.

Upon activation, the discs all glow faintly in their colours, and the Adamant rings along their edges more brilliantly, before they project a circle of the relevant colour outwards, to a distance of five feet from the pillar. Within the bounds of this circle are many hundreds of Old Realm letters that, if the time is taken to read, tell the story of the beginnings of Creation, from when there was just Wyld up until when the Gods were created and the Primordials retreated to Heaven, to the overthrow of the Primordials and the ascension of the Gods, through the First Age, Finishing at Autocthon's self-imposed exile. The circle surrounding the Jade ring shifts between the five hues gradually, and all five circles rapidly rotate, each concentric ring of Old Realm script moving in the opposite direction. Essence swirls within the Adamant pillar, and the discs slowly move closer together, the pillar shrinking as they do.

The discs come into contact after 5 days of operation, still projecting the rapidly spinning circles. They begin to slow down at this point, quickly coming to a complete stop. There is a second's pause, then the circles begin to expand at an impossibly fast pace, the Old Realm script blurring into a haze as the five discs of colour cut through the Wyld. After 15 months of this, an explosion of energy centred on the artifact occurs, and sphere of reality expands from it, forging a new Creation centred upon it's location. A central point of solidarity is first, the Blessed Isle. The energy continues on it's path, forging a copy of Creation, complete with the people and cities that were in existence at the time of Autocthon's exile. Even the Underworld is recreated exactly as it was. The people in this new Creation are not reborn versions of those who were alive at the time, but rather, new bodies and souls crafted from the Wyld. Unlike regular Creation, however, this one is circular, each pole an equal distance from the centrepoint.

Heaven is also recreated exactly as it was at this time, with copies of the Gods forged out of Wyldstuff. Only Gaia herself is not truly duplicated, an imitation instead being formed, which is then imbued with a specially crafted spirit entity designed to emulate the heart of the Primordial. Autocthon is not duplicated either, at all. Once the entire process is finished, The Perfected Panoply of Alchemical Duplication of Reality and Orders Celestial, Terrestrial and Abyssal shuts down, buried beneath the new Imperial Mountain, at the very heart of the Elemental Pole of Earth. At this point, it's operation is complete, a second Creation has been forged, exactly as it was when Autocthon last saw it.

However, while the inhabitants are remade exactly as they were, it is impossible to truly duplicate a soul, and the history of the New Creation will most likely not mirror that of the Old, as everyone will act in totally different manners to how their historical counterparts did. The Perfected Panoply of Alchemical Duplication of Reality and Orders Celestial, Terrestrial and Abyssal was built by Autocthon shortly before his exile as an emergency system, to recreate Creation in the event of a catasrophe. he took it with him, and sealed it away somewhere within his Core, guarded by thousands of Pattern Spiders. Finding and taking the artifact would be impossibly difficult, and getting the five different Exalts, even from amongst the Alchemicals, would be a task of similar difficulty. Finally, carrying it into the Wyld cements a final mark of impossibility into it. It is possible Autocthon didn't want it used, but couldn't bring himself to destroy it, or perhaps he still awaits the time it becomes needed.

Disclaimer: I thought of the name first. I thought it sounded cool. The rest came from there. I take no responsibility for any breaking of your games, sillyness or insane players demanding to go look for it. Nor do I take responsibility for stress caused to Storytellers having to figure out just what effect a second Creation has on the first one, and where, exactly, it sits in relation to it. Also, please don't hurt me. - Trithne

One thing to note: Getting 100 motes is a non-trivial task, especially among the Alchemical Exalted. With total pools on the order of Essence*10+2*Willpower+ approx. 15 (other), even an Essence 6 Solar is going to be lucky to have 100 motes handy. That leaves them with no motes free to use in the next 15 months, to supposedly deal with the Wyld problem. Alchemicals are worse off yet, as they presumably have charms installed, further reducing their pools. Perhaps changing the cost to 50 motes each could allow Alchemicals of less than city size to activate the thing? -- GreenLantern, noting that building an emergency fail-safe that can never be activated seems kindof pointless

Well.. that kinda limits it to being activated by essence 9 or 10 patropolii or metrolpolii... and... thats probably a good thing.. do you want essence 5 alchemicals going about making new creations? :P FluffySquirrel

The idea is that it can only be activated by a group of essence 8 - 10 exalts. Get another high-essence exalt to take it into the Wyld. - Trithne

Or lower level exalts with large Essence-Containing Gems. -- Wordman

Yeah, after all, creating a backup copy of Creation in the deepest corners of the Wyld should never be considered trivial at /any/ level. O.o - KittenyKat

Lolz aside, might it be a better idea to create a pagename such as 'ThePerfectedPanoply' for the purposes of submitting artifacts like this to the Wiki in future? ...DeathBySurfeit, who is running out of precious, precious pixels

Well, it was either that or tPPoADoRaOCTA, which sounds like a terrible, terrible lung infection. It's now done, so it'll hurt much much less. - Trithne
