All I have to say is... Wow. That's a great take on the Lunars. More like the Garou from WoD that inspired them. Now, how did the Lunars react to the Usurpation? Were they willing accomplices to the DBs? Were the Lunars themselves the ones who were instigated by the Siddies? That could be cool, lending credibility to the Immaculate religion ( "-=We=- Weren't the ones who ousted the Solars, but now that they're gone... *winkwink* *nudgenudge*") and leaves the Lunars once again Outcasts from the realm. ~ BrigandRansom

Thanks! And yeah... mainly a different way of... 'fixing' them. ^_-
As for their reactions, I'm going with... they were willing accompalices, they can see which way the wind was blowing... ^_-
As for the lunars being outside of the realm, that's their territories... that the various lunar major families / clans staked out. ~ Haku

So what about nowadays, with the Empress gone and the Solars once again on the rise? Are they as a whole "Sorry" for what they did? What is their reaction to the Solars? Even Better, what about the Immaculate Order? Are Lunars still considered Anathema, or lost kindred? Hmm, this gets my brain percolating =) ~ BrigandRansom

Heh heh heh... this one is sort of tricky, the lunars are not sorry about the whole ursuption deal... heck, none of them lived from that period, so... Solars are still anathema, and lunars should be treated as outcaste DBs as applicable (unless they're from the Realm which is entirely possible). The IO would treat the lunars as kindred, fellow exalts from Gaia's lover, in the fashion that they are the exalts of Gaia's children... ~ haku

The more I think about this the better I like it, but I still enjoy the standard setting. I think this setup would make Lunar Packs far more common, but the Barbarians wouldn't be nearly as well-organized as they are in Canon. There would of course still be Barbarian Tribes led by Lunars.... but more like Garou Kinfolk. Veeeery Interesting... *scratchesbeard* ~ BrigandRansom

Thanks, this would naturally require changes to the setting to work, ie. noble lunar dynasts in the realm. Barbarian tribes led by lunars and Dragonblooded in the wilderness out there. Threshold kingdoms ruled by lunars. But yes... there wouldn't be anyone truly running the barbarians as a whole. ~ Haku

Lovely idea! Only thing my mastery of pedantics could pick up on was the line "If both parents are normal humans, then the child will exalt on a roll of 1-2." I assume this isn't intended, or are Lunars really very populous? ...DeathBySurfeit

I was kind of going for a DB-type breeding of lunars... ie. you could end up with kids who didn't exalt, but their GRAND-kids did and such. But you'll need to have a lunar in your family/bloodline at some point to have a lunar, kind of like a DB. ~ Haku

Myself, I'm not sure about the idea of Lunar Dynasts. I'd probably add a further split after Usurpation (before or during the Contagion) which would lead to Lunars retreating to the barbarian lands. This would make DBs the default "civilized" Exalts and Lunars the default "barbarian" Exalts, with both groups treating Solars as Anathema. ~ Bicorn

Well... Think of it as this way... you're going to get lunars all over the place... random exaltations of lunars on the blessed isle isn't impossible. Unlikely, but possible, the Empress would definately treat them as patrician or peasant exalted DBs... which means you'll get Dynastic families adopting the new exalt or they join the IO or the military.

This would mean that in 800 years, you'll get lunar dynast families, just as you have barbarian outcaste DBs. But by default, the majority of the lunars are in the threshold and wilder areas of creation. And yes, the poor Solars get the blunt of the hatred from both groups. ~ haku

Me, I'm thinking there's no reason the Lunars should still be in the Realm. Either the Usurpation (look what the Lunars did! Kill them!) or the Contagion (Let's send the Lunars to fight the fey - their tatoos protect them from the Wyld, right?) or any number of other things can make the Lunars exiles as well. As long as there's still a many-to-one ratio of Lunars to DB's, it's not a problem, really. - GregLink

Ha ha, this is assuming that the Lunars still have their tattoos. No, they don't have tattoos, but for the most part, there will be few lunars in the blessed isle, but they'll exist there, due to the nature of their exaltation (which includes breeding like DBs and THOSE pop up everywhere).

But the way, I'm seeing this is that after the ursuption, the DBs and Lunars divided Creation, with the DBs having the blessed isle and the inner sea regions and the lunars taking the outside threshold regions. So the Fae invasion hurt the Lunars BAD as they stood right smack in the front of the invasion, this is after the whole contagion bit where ALOT of people died.

But erm, don't you mean many DBs to one Lunar? as opposed to many Lunars to one DB? o.0;;
