WeepingStar/Hearthstones

From Exalted - Unofficial Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

Here is where I will be posting my Hearthstones as I either create new ones or pull old ones out of my vast collection of "Exalted Notes" document files. I preface all of these by mentioning that I am, in fact, horrible at deciding the point cost of the things I create, so any comments (too high, too low, that's retarded, oooh I want one, whatever) would be appreciated.

Lodestone Sapphire

Manse •, Earth
Trigger: None

This stone, in the form of an egg-sized black star sapphire, has no particular special ability of it's own, beyond easily finding it's way back to it's home Manse, the Isle of Mists, found on the edge of the Wyld. Like a compass, the slightly off-center star visible within the stone will always point it's longest "arm" in the direction of the Island. While this may not seem particularly useful, the Isle of Mists is a strange and unique place, an island that is never in the same place twice, and cannot be found unless the way is pointed out.

Not to mention the fact that there are at least three other Manses, of power far greater than that of the Isle of Mists itself, ON the island.

Currently carried byWeepingStar/KaisuiUkime, Uberrific Air-aspect DragonBlooded pirate topsman. Stuck in the back of his arm, actually.

Seeing Eye Opal

Manse •••, Abyssal
Trigger: None

This smooth, egg-shaped stone appears for all the world to have a single human eyeball, trailing optical nerve tissue, free-floating within it as if the inside of the stone were filled with an inert liquid. It feels oily and slick to the touch, and has the tendancy to focus and stare at anything that passes in front of it.. When socketed into an object of the appropriate Magical Material and attuned, the color of the eye within the stone will shift from it's natural dusky gray to match the eye color of the person it is attuned to, and then will promptly begin to spin, twist, and turn at a nearly blinding speed within it's stone housing, gathering information for it's bearer, it's piercing gaze able to entirely ignore both it's housing and it's bearer for the sake of vision.

For as long as the stone is attuned, the Exalt who carries it gains a +2 to all Perception rolls involving sight, and gains the ability to see in all directions at once, which affords a perfect defense against being surprised, as long as the opponent is visible.

I like the Eye Opal... I presume it is a perfect defense against being surprised by any visible being due to being able to see in all directions at once? I suggest clarifying the mechanical effects a bit more, although the flavour is great.

Actually I've never really been good with the wording of crunch, to be honest. I think I may actually just go with how you put it. Thanks for the comment!
