Scythe Among the Corn

Cost: 9 motes, 1 Will
Duration: Instant
Type: Simple
Minimum Thrown:: 5
Minimum Essence: 4
Prereqs: Reaping the Bloody Wheat

Expanding on the power given by Reaping the Bloody Wheat, a Solar using this Charm may empower their weapon to cut down armies. The Solar makes a Thrown attack as normal and, if the weapon hits, it continues on to another target within its full range. The weapon will keep attacking as long as it keeps hitting or until every target has been hit once, at which point it returns to the Exalt's hand. Attack attacks occur over the course of one turn.

There is one limitation--the weapon cannot hit targets that are more than its normal range from the Solar at the moment he uses this Charm. During its flight, it will not attack any such targets.

Shrieking Comet Attack

Cost: 6 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Supplemental
Minimum Thrown:: 5
Minimum Essence: 4
Prereqs: Precision of the Striking Raptor

When using this Charm, the Solar charges his weapon with Essence to the point where it begins glowing brightly. When she throws it, it leaps across the distance between her and her target like a meteor, blazing like the sun and screaming like a diving hawk--this Charm is impossible to use and remain unnoticed.

The benefits are profound, however. The weapon counts as piercing if it was not already (and if it was already piercing, the target's lethal soak is quartered before soak is applied), and all damage dice are converted into automatic successes.

Comments, Suggestions, or Flames

At essence 4, I don't think it's too much to ask that after using your army-killing charm, the weapon returns to your hand. Are you making it drop for any specific reason?

Mostly because I thought that's what happened with Reaping the Bloody Wheat. As it turns out, I was wrong--changed. -Dorchadas

Why does Shrieking Comet Attack sprout from Precision of the Striking Raptor? It's unusual to see such a jump in pre-reqs, and besides that, the flavour would suggest it branches more naturally from Fiery Solar Chakram, wouldn't you think? I'm interested as to why you placed it where you did.

First off, I'll second Darloth, and wonder why the charm tree is built the way you suggest. Otherwise, I love the damn thing. As a fan of thrown, who thinks it gets no love, I adore these charms. Good times, happy effects, and all that. -- GregLink
Thanks for the feedback! The main reason I put it after Precision of the Striking Raptor is all it does is make you hit harder. While the visuals tie in with Fiery Solar Chakram, none of the other particulars (hurting enemies of the Unconquered Sun, creating a weapon out of nothing, etc.) fit. --Dorchadas
Wow. 13 months between two sentences of a conversation. Only on the internet. Any reason it took so long? -- GreenLantern (the current pseudonym for GregLink)
Due to a hiatus in the game I've been running, I've been checking the wiki only infrequently. ^^;; Speaking of which, I think it's about time to update these for Second Edition... (only 2520 hours to reply this time!)--Dorchadas
