Consuming the Shattered Web
Cost: 10 motes, 1 willpower Duration: One Scene Type: Simple Min Occult: 4 Min Essence: 4 Prereqs: Celestial Circle Sorcery
Most of the damage done by sorcerous backlash is caused by the Essence of the spell being unleasehed before it is finished forming. A Solar Exalted with this Charm has mastered the flows of Essence to such a degree that she is able to draw Essence from the shattered remains of spells that have been interupted or countered. For the rest of the scene, regain a number of motes equal to half the cost of any spell that is countered or interupted within a number of yards equal to (Essense X 100) if a successful Stamina + Occult roll is made. With only 1 success, one level of Lethal damage is inflicted from the ragged Essence, but additional successes remove this effect. No more then two Exalted can gain Essence from a single spell. The two slots go first to those who activated the Charm earliest. If an Exalt has a full Essence pool, she may not attempt to gather the fragments of Essence from any further spells.
Enforcing the Edict
Cost: 10 motes, 1 willpower Duration: Instant Type: Simple Minimum Occult: 5 Minimum Presence: 3 Minimum Essence: 3 Prerequisite Charms: Upon Your Name
As demons are all, at some level, the souls of their Primordial masters, they are all bound by the Oaths that the Primordials swore upon their names. Only by a loophole can the lesser Demons escape into Creation. Any Solar Exalt with enough power of personality and Essence can force a Demon to hold to the spirit, not the word, of those Oaths. By using this Charm and succeeding in a Charisma + Occult roll, difficulty of (5 - the Demon's Essence, minimum of 1) the Solar can force a demon to return to Malfeas for 10 years per dot of the user's Permanent Essence. This time can be doubled by spending a permanent dot of willpower. To use this Charm on Demons of the Second Circle, the user must have Essence 5. To use this Charm on Demons of the Third Circle, the user must have Essence 8.

Interesting. A notable logical loophole is that, as the spell is written, multiple Exalts can use this Charm simultaneously to collectively absorb more Essence from a shattered spell than was used to cast it in the first place. :) Personally I'd cut the costs down and have the Exalt take a health level of damage each time she absorbs shattered Essence, to account for the fact that the Essence is all, y'know, shattered and pointy and such. It could also be a very cheap reflexive instant Charm instead of a simple scene-long one. - Quendalon
It could be done as a reflexive Charm, but I prefer it as Scene-long, it makes you think about activating it. You never know if you'll get Essence or not. I added in the possibility of taking damage and fixed the whole thing about getting more then a spell is worth out of this Charm. - Telgar
Mm. I would assume that Enforcing the Edict only works on free Demons, yes? Cause a summonded and bound Demon is following the spirit of the surrender agreement- in which the Primordials and their kin were not simply banished from Creation, but made the slaves and tools of their banishers, always bound to Creation so as to not unleash Horrible Retribuution. You are correct. - Telgar
