All-Seeing Eye of the Sun
Cost: 5 motes
Duration: Scene
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Occult: 5
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: All-Encompassing Sorcerer's Sight

No use of Essence may hide from the gaze of a Solar Exalted using this Charm. When under the influence of this charm, the Exalt's irises glow with red Essence. He automatically identifies any Charms used within his line of sight. A successful Intelligence+Occult roll with difficulty equal to the Essence of the charm user reveals all details related to the use of the identified charm, including the Essence of the charm user, how much essence and willpower was spent powering the charm, and the charms target (if any). This charm functions as a type of very specialized essence sight.

Copy Wheel Eye
Cost: 10 motes, 1 Willpower
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Occult: 5
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: All-Seeing Eye of the Sun

Not even the Charms of his enemies are beyond the power of a Solar Exalt. When using this Charm, the Exalt's irises flare red with essence. The Solar may observe and learn any one Charm used within his line of sight. To observe a Charm, the Charm must have some visible essence effect, or must be observed through a Charm such as All-Seeing Eye of the Sun. The Solar must meet all prerequisites of a charm he learns, and may not learn a charm with an Essence requirement greater than the Solar's permanent Essence - 1. For any Exalt not of the Eclipse caste, non-Solar charms raise the effective Essence requirement by 1, so a non-Eclipse Solar must be at least Essence 3 in order to be able to copy Dragon-Blooded, Lunar, or Spirit charms with an Essence requirement of 1, for example. The effects of this Charm last for the duration of the current Story, to learn the Charm permanently requires the Solar to spend 8 XP.

These Charms are obviously inspired by Naruto. Not because I particularly admire the show, but it is a great source of Charm ideas. I'm not sure if it is possible to duplicate the effect of Sasuke's Sharingan jutso in a balanced way, but the above is my best shot. It seems like something that should be possible... I mean, Solar's are way cooler and more powerful than ninja's, right? Anyway, comments needed! -Madwand

Learning the charm permanently should cost the full XP of the charm, and should require the ninj-- er, the Solar using this charm to have the prerequisites, but I could see this charm negating training time. It could even allow permanently learning a charm in the middle of a fight. - IanPrice

oh... my... fscking... god. I am -=SOOOO=- jacking this for NarutoMod (that is, if you don't mind). I've been pondering how to adapt Naruto jutsus into charms, and I could do no better adapting the Sharingan. Madwand , you rawk. IanPrice, I agree =) So guys... Kaleidoscope Copy Wheel Eye? ~ BrigandRansom, Sick and Drunk on his birthday with nothing but props to give

I have mixed feelings about the last charm. The concept is good, but I feel it steps on the Eclipse turf. I would probably litmit it to solar and abyssal charms (who become turned around equivalents)and Matratial arts unless you are an Eclipse. Any other charm is learned but not usable

Thx for the coments on my charms BTW. -Azurelight

Thanks for the comments so far. Yes, of course anyone may copy this charm as they like, although more changes would probably be needed to really emulate Sharingan jutso -- after all, these charms were only inspired by Naruto. Interestingly enough, I am not personally worried about stepping on the Eclipse's toes. I feel that it should be possible to do something similar to all anima abilites with charms. In fact, I believe charms should be even better than anima abilites. I *am* worried about balance issues. Comments that anyone using this charm should pay the full XP for learned charms are possibly correct, although I would want to completly re-do the charm in that case. Part of the expense of this method comes from the fact that you have to buy an entire tree of charms to really do a good job of copying stuff. Does anyone feel that the charm, as written, is balanced? The reason I ask is because it seems that Sasuke and the other users of Sharingan style arn't paying the full XP for each jutso they learn... in fact, there is mention made of one character (Kakashi) having copied "thousands of techniques". Shouldn't Solars be able to do something similar? Maybe, maybe not. Thoughts?-Madwand

No, Solars shouldn't. It isn't something that translates over. The Uchiha ability to copy Techneques is simply too powerful, even for exalted. It's like the Dragonball Z ability to blow up Planets, something that works for that series, but shouldn't nessesarly be done elsewhere. - Dasmen

You have a problem with giving PCs the potential to destroy creation? Perhaps not at essence 5 or below, but, eventually... Sure. Take a while though. Theoretically, if you killed all of gaia's souls often enough, you could make a good start even at essence 4 or 5 or so. But anyway... Why is this too powerful? Eclipse-caste can already do it, for mucho cost... Thus, although I don't think it should be as cheap as 1xp per charm, I think it should be a possibility. Anyway, Kakeshi rarely uses techniques remembered from past opponents, he typically uses his own stuff and stuff from the current battle, from what I've seen. You can already do that for no XP with this charm just by using the story-duration mode... It is quite powerful, but not as powerful as Technique Mirror, a solar circle spell of roughly the same effect. That, however, lets you use any charm, from anywhere, using the higher of your or their pool, and with other benefits.

Yeah, seriously. Solar Charms are the best anyway, usually. Thus why Eclipse-caste don't go haring off after Lunar charms or DB charms willy-nilly. Something which lets you learn things which suck in comparison to your normal stuff, or is at best just as good, isn't overpowered at all. - IanPrice

I didn't say that Solars shouldn't, just not as casully as a DBZ character could. Remember that at the bigining, most everyone could do it, and by the end, all of those charaters strangth had increase tens of thousends of time over. - Dasmen

I've modified Copy Wheel Eye to require 8 XP to buy a charm permanently. To compensate, I've decreased the mote cost and removed the need to buy the Charm more than once: it now automatically increases in power as the Solar gains Essence. Hopefully it will be balanced this way. -Madwand

I think that's about right now. Although it DOES now lead to ultra-fast training with not all that much cost, and in the occult tree of all places. Still, someone else has to be willing to demonstrate and have the charm, and it does drain a lot of willpower if you decide you suddenly need the entire melee tree up to Essence 3, so, yeah, seems okay. Good job!

Do Eclipses get a discount on this? Seems like it kindof narfs their schtick. So it could be cheaper? - GregLink

It might be fair to let Eclipse caste treat charms learned with the charm as favored if you feel the need to give them another advantage with it. - Blackedout
How about letting Eclipse caste treat charms from other types as having the normal Essence minimum, instead of an increased one, since for them the charms aren't really "out of type?" Thus, to learn any Essence 1 charm, Solar, Terrestrial, Spirit, or otherwise, they'd have to have Essence 2, etc. - IanPrice
Nice idea! Done. -Madwand
