Jindar Needles

Remismund notes to himself, in a personal journal:

The Metaphoric Crafters' League surprises me time and again with their creations.

This one, the Jindar reed, was shown to me by Majhemout, the Gardener of Iniquity. It is amazing! Its needles produce a thread that is perfectly transparent to Essence; they do not disrupt the flow patterns of even the most sensitive tools. Meanwhile, the stems produce the most excellent golden ink, which [the University] have been using since its invention to write our most excellent works of history. It is indelible and only legible by the Chosen; what more could we ask for?

I have gone amongst the Seafarers of Nibarak to record their songs with this wondrous stuff; when I return I will write more of it.

He continues, months later:

The Seafarers and I have discovered that Jindar Ink can be produced in any color one wishes, simply by inserting shards of metal or jade into the reed; they are worn away by its magic as the reed writes. In this way, I have been persuaded to produce many colourful tattoos, which I fear I am too polite to describe even here. My friend Captain Firdausi has quite the excellent sense of design, however.
