The Scent of Dreams

Cost: 5 motes, 1 gossamer
Duration: Instant
Type: Simple
Minimum Cup: 3
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisites: Ravishing The Created Form

Sometimes a meal manages to elude a raksha. Sometimes what one may have cast aside after feeding may prove to have some use after all. No matter the reason, the raksha can learn how to track a former feeding victim down, no matter where they may be. No matter when they go, the scent of their dreams hangs in the airs of both Creation and the Wyld.

Upon using this Charm, the raksha may attempt to track down a being that they have fed from within the last year, using only the thin traces of dream and being that floats along the ever-flowing rivers of Essence. They may make a single roll, using their Perception + Essence; a single success provides a basic direction, while five would lead the raksha to within a kilometer of the target. This roll consumes a shaping action.

This Charm is a work of Glamour, and fails automatically if the target is wearing cold iron or is within the range of any effects that would block glamour. If the target is within the Bordermarches or deeper, the gossamer cost is ignored.

Sponge of Emotions

Cost: 1 gossamer
Duration: Instant
Type: Simple
Minimum Cup: 4
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisites: Banquet of Crumbs

When simply supping at the thin air of emotions around them will not do, the raksha may instead choose to draw the needed emotions forth using a bit of their own desire and some clever manipulation. The scraps gained are vaguely satisfying, but are no substitute for the joy of true ravishing.

After having provoked the desired emotion in at least one Creation-born, the raksha uses a shred of gossamer to act as a oneiromantic 'sponge', carefully sopping up the drippings of feelings and dreams. The raksha rolls a feeding Grace as a Cup-shaping action. Every success gives the raksha two motes, and they gain an additional number of motes equal to their permanent Essence.

Licking the Iron Platter Clean

Cost: 1 Willpower, 0 gossamer
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Cup: 4
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisites: Banquet of Crumbs

Even in times of danger, the clever raksha can find a way to yank away the essence of pain, hatred and fury, making for a quick (albeit bitter) means of recharging their inner stores.

Instead of feeding from ambient emotions, this charm uses the Essence and fury spent with the intent to harm the raksha as a means of sustenance. When the raksha is struck by a damaging effect fueled by essence specifically taken from one of the Creation-born, the raksha may immediately roll a feeding Grace as a Cup-shaping action, with a number of bonus dice (up to the raksha's Essence) equal to the number of motes spent by the attacker. Every success gives the raksha 2 motes. The attack need not actually do damage; so long as it strikes the raksha, this charm may be used.

Deepening the Hungry Well

Cost: Variable gossamer points
Duration: One story
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Cup: 3
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisites: Banquet of Crumbs

Twisting his inner workings either for a short while or for all time, the raksha widens his metaphysical stomach to allow it to gradually accept more of the delicious dreamstuff that the Fair Ones crave. The initial purchase of this charm grants the raksha a second essence pool, starting with a five-mote maximum, that can only be filled through dream-eating. Each additional purchase increases the limit by five. In its normal charm format, activating each five-mote increment costs a gossamer point per story, but the raksha is not required to pay the entire amount if they only need a small amount of extra storage. If made into a mutation, the carved-out reservoir is permanent and requires no gossamer upkeep, instead adding a mutation point per five-mote increment.

Raksha may only purchase this charm a number of times equal to their Cup.

Callus-Forming Bite

Cost: 1 Willpower, 1 Lethal health level, 0 gossamer
Duration: Instant
Type: Simple
Minimum Cup: 4
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisites: Banquet of Crumbs

Sometimes it takes a bit of bribery to acquire a meal, and the raksha with this charm has quite the gift to give in exchange for a mawful of dreams; added strength to resist the glamours of other fair ones.

The raksha's feeding target must be willing (although they can be beguiled), else this charm cannot be used. With a willing victim, the raksha's player chooses a viable feeding source (Virtues or Willpower) and takes an unrolled shaping action. The raksha gains a satisfying 'meal' from the target, taking in five motes; the targeted source is temporarily reduced by 1 for seven days, but the 'victim' gains a bonus to all Glamour resistance checks equal to the Essence of the raksha that fed on them. Both penalty and bonus last for seven days, and if the spiritual damage is repaired before that time, the bonus fades as well.

This Charm is a peculiar work of glamour; it specifically requires consent to function, but can be used on any creature that gives said consent, no matter their capabilities.

Unified Focus Crucible

Cost: 2 motes per applicable target, 0 gossamer
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Cup: 4
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisites: Oneiromantic Conjuration

The random sleeping mortal proves to be an excellent crucible for forming a quick bit of gossamer, but with a bit of practice a Fair One can learn how to use the shared vision of a group of very-much-awake mortals to harvest the stuff of dreams.

The raksha must be able to witness a group of mortal beings (or, if there's just no other option, just one) striving towards a single purpose, be it soldiers marching to battle or minstrels aiming to create perfect harmony. The raksha may opt to spent two motes for each mortal that he intends to try and form gossamer from, then rolls a suitably fitting Attribute plus Craft (Gossamer) as a Cup-shaping action with a difficulty equal to six minus the number of targeted mortals, to a minimum difficulty of one. Examples of suitable Attributes would include Stamina for workers toiling long and hard, Charisma for singers aiming to catch a lord's eye, or Wits for architects forced to fix a near-finished structure on the fly. On success, the raksha's Heart tugs forth enough ambient dreamfluff to grant him a point of gossamer, along with an additional point for every extra two successes. The targets need not be consenting to, nor aware of the raksha's doings.

This Charm is a work of glamour, and cannot target Exalted or mortals with an Essence rating greater than 2.

Feast of Lies

Cost: 2 Willpower, 1 Health Level, 0 gossamer
Duration: Instant
Type: Simple
Minimum Cup: 5
Minimum Essence: 4
Prerequisites: Soul-Consuming Hunger

Akin to cannibalism, this charm is not often used except by the desperate, the depraved or the truly vicious amongst the raksha, as it allows them to completely devour (and thus destroy) any Grace that they hold and own. Symbolically taking the Grace and tearing it apart with teeth and Essence pattern, the raksha pulverizes the essence node into raw power and digests it, fortifying themselves. In doing so, the raksha gains a number of gossamer points equal to three times the Grace's rating, 10 motes of essence for every rating dot, and a two-die bonus for all shaping rolls related to that Grace for five stories.

The raksha whose Grace is eaten in such a manner is permanently afflicted by the corresponding Curse, and their pattern is scarred badly afterwards, such that attempts to construct a new Grace from the raksha cost triple their normal gossamer and essence cost.

(Type) Thirst

Cost: Varies
Duration: Permanent
Type: Special
Minimum Cup: 3
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisites: Ravishing the Created Form

Tuning their beings to properly reap Essence from the dreams of particular beings, the raksha's range of potential victim widens. This is a set of charms, each augmenting the capabilities of Ravishing the Created Form, Extruded Stomach Feeding and Heart-Stealing Kiss.

For most types of beings the charm is purchased for, the glamour Trait test for Ravishing the Created Form and Extruded Stomach Feeding becomes [(Willpower + Essence) - the raksha's Cup] against the raksha's Willpower. Heart-Stealing Kiss's test does not change, but the number of motes gained per Virtue drained is increased to 4. The following types, and notable exceptions, are as follows:

  • God-Breaking Thirst: Applies to spirits and godlings.
  • Death-Slaying Thirst: Applies to ghosts and undead beings with affectable Virtues.
  • Hell-Chilling Thirst: Applies to demons and (potentially, although the idea borders on suicide) yozi.
  • Mongrel-Crushing Thirst: Applies to god-blooded, ghost-blooded, demon-blooded and fae-blooded mortals.
  • Jade-Chewing Thirst: Explicitly ignores Mountain Folk immunity to feeding, applying the above glamour test. This version requires Cup 5, Essence 4, Heart 4 and at least two other feeding types.
  • Kin-Scarring Thirst: Allows the raksha to feed on raksha under the effects of an Assumption charm in Creation, applying the above glamour test. This version requires Cup 4, Essence 3 and at least one other feeding type. Any raksha with Mad God Mien active retains their immunity.
  • Mortal-Shattering Thirst: The raksha can feed from any mundane unExalted mortals (god-blooded, no matter how faint, do not apply) with effortless precision and brutal efficiency. They may choose to tear forth up to a total of twice their feeding Grace in dots of the applicable Virtue or Willpower from up to five beguiled or willing mortals; this is an automatic, unrolled effect.

This charm may be purchased a number of times equal to the raksha's Cup, buying a new feeding type each time.

Mother Eagle Feeds Her Chick

Cost: 1 Willpower, 1 gossamer
Duration: Instant
Type: Simple
Minimum Cup: 3
Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisites: Ravishing the Created Form

A trick developed recently by a raksha in torrid, true love with an Exalt, this charm functions similarly to Ravishing the Created Form (or Extruded Stomach Feeding, if the raksha knows this charm as well). Instead of devouring the motes and dreams gained from ravishing their victim, the raksha instead translates these potent energies into a form that the Creation-born can palate without the need for a feeding maw. Every Virtue or Willpower dot metaphysically regurgitated yields a number of motes equal to (3 + applied Feeding Grace), flavored with just a touch of the Wyld. The Creation-born being granted this boon must be within five yards of the raksha using the Charm and consenting to such an odd means of Essence-gaining.

The experience is understandably powerful, and can lead to a faint, ignorable craving for occasional 'hits' of stolen dreams.

Tempting Faerie Morsels

Cost: 10 motes, 1 Willpower, 2 gossamer
Duration: Instant
Type: Simple
Minimum Cup: 4
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisites: Mother Eagle Feeds Her Chick, Shiftless Untamed Beauty

There are many old wives' tales stating that eating the strange foods of the Fair Ones is a recipe for disaster. There is some truth buried in those backwards stories, all due to this particular charm.

Like Mother Eagle Feeds Her Chick, this charm is similar to Ravishing the Created Form (or Extruded Stomach Feeding, if the raksha knows this charm as well). However, instead of devouring the motes gained or funneling them to someone else, this charm traps those sweet, stolen dreams into small enchanted foodstuffs made in the blink of an eye. For each dot 'comsumed', one sweet or similar treat is formed; what they look like and taste like depends on the dreams they were formed from, but they are always incredibly delectable, on par with Ambrosia-crafted foods.

When eaten by the Creation-born, a faerie sweet grants five motes of Essence. Subsequent candies eaten within the space of a day yield two less mote than the last (three for the second, one for the third, and none for additional candies). Even so, Creation-born feel the stunning rush of dream-eating no matter how many they consume, and these candies can become dangerously addictive. Eating one subjects the target to the effects of Shiftless Untamed Beauty, but with an extra point of difficulty added to the initial Willpower + Temperance check and the monthly Willpower check, should it be neccessary. Should the target consume more candies than they have dots in Temperance in one day, an additional point of difficulty is added as well.

This Charm is a work of glamour, and does not affect characters with Temperance + Essence greater than the raksha's Cup. The raksha themselves gain no sustenance from these candies whatsoever.

I like Deepening the Hungry Well, but given the effects of mutation points, I'm thinking it might be better suited to being a Story-length 1 gossamer cost charm instead. - LeSquide

Well you could do it either way. It is a permanent alteration of your makeup, so the mutation cost does fit. However, if you use the Story-length approch, then you get more flexability as you can have it mutation anyway if you desire. - FrozenHermit

Actually I do have something constructive to say. There is no need to say that it costs mutation and gossamer, since you can turn a gossamer-costing charm into a mutation. By saying that it cost 1g then you are also saying that it costs 1 mutation point. - FrozenHermit
