Sword and Hand Become One

Cost:None
Duration:Permanent
Type:Special
Minimum Occult:2
Minimum Essence:2

The Terrestial Exalted are in all ways tied to the Elemental essence from which they draw their powers. It is through that essence that they channel their formidable Charms and Sorceries against those who would stand against the almighty Realm and the Dragon-blooded Dynasty which upholds its stability. In addition to these exalted powers, the Dragons have gifted their children with an additional blessing: the ability to craft wonderous works of power from the sacred material of Jade, and to attune their own exalted spirits with these magical items. With time, that attunement can grow further into a mystical bond, blurring the lines of essence between Exalt and Artifact in ways the cursed Anathema cannot hope to duplicate with their vile abilities.\\ This Charm is of permanent effect. The Character must have an Artifact Attuned which is in some way special or important to her. The item must have been Attuned to that character for at least one year. Once these conditions are met, the Character may learn this Charm. Learning this Charm eliminates the need to commit essence to that certain Artifact in order to remain Attuned to it. As long as the Dragon-blood keeps the Artifact on her person, she is considered to be Attuned to that Artifact, without having to commit her essence to it. If the Artifact and Character should ever be seperated for more than a Scene, then the Character will feel a mild discomfort, suffering a -1 penalty to all actions not directly related to retreiving the Artifact. This penalty will continue to build every two Scenes they are seperated after the first, so that a Character and an Artifact that have been seperate for two Scenes will face a -1 penalty, at three Scenes they will be at -2 penalty, at five Scenes the penalty will rise to -3, and so on. Eventually, the Character will be able to perform no other actions but to retreive her beloved Artifact.\\ The Exalt and the Artifact are considered permanently Attuned. Only the destruction of the Artifact or the death of the Character will cuase the two to lose Attunement. In the case of the Artifact being destroyed, this Charm becomes inert until the Character forms a bond with another Artifact as per the recquirements. This Charm may only be taken for a number of Artifacts equal to the Character's Essence divided by 2 (rounded up).

Mm. Quick question- Essence Manipulation normally falls under Lore. Any particular reason this is Occult? - DariusSolluman

Cool. Possibly too powerful. On the other hand, it's not as good as the Solar version, and it does fit that sort of DB character really well. I'm now having difficulty deciding if my last DB would've used it for her Diklaive or her Armour. -- Senji

Looking at Exalted Compendium, I would guess that the second Occult tree deals with jade interaction and stuff... "Minding the Dragon's Egg"? The Lore Charms are really "elemental energy manipulation", which this really isn't. - FourWillowsWeeping

FWW's assessment seems to be the general opinion. I thought about Lore, for just the reason Darius mentioned, but Occult just seemed more natural. Also, don't forget that Occult is the skill used in actually crafting Artifacts, which I felt to be the single most important reason I placed it in Occult. Thanks for all the feedback, I'm glad y'all liked it. As far as being too powerful, I really tried to limit this Charm as much as possible. I based it off of the Abyssal and Alchemical "extra essence Charms," which, compared to this one, are much more powerful. Very few Artifacts are ever going to need more than 10 motes commited, and those that do are going to be very hard for the DB to keep on her person. Also, I restricted the Charm to Essence/2 rather than just Essence, like the Celestial versions. Thanks, Gorol

This I love, much more feeling than I expected, and it makes wonderful sense :D - CorlanDashiva
