Back to the Nihilic Exalted

Powers of the Nihilic Exalted

The Nihilic Exalted have the same broad reach of powers as their other Exalted kin. Like the Lunars that they mirror, these powers come in two primary sorts: Desecrations and Charms.

From The Void's Heart: Desecrations

The Blasphemies of the Nihilic Exalted rely on the sliver of the Void that they hold within them. By learning to manipulate it, they find a number of powers that they did not previously have access to, including their growing ability to steal souls and hold them within their hearts. Technically, the Oblivion within the Nihils is not a thing but an absence of a thing, a hunger at their heart that seeks to consume all before it. This greatly reduces its versatility compared to what the Lunar Exalted can manage. However, it also provides for a number of highly unique effects.

As a general rule, Desecrations can be divided into two groups. The first, Soul Theft Desecrations, increase the breadth and power of a Nihil's ability to steal the souls of her victims. The second, Soul Consumption Desecrations, increase a Nihil's abilities to benefit from the souls that she has stolen.

From The Exaltation's Darkness: Charms

While Nihilic Charms are often mirrors of their Lunar kin, they tend to rely heavily on Oblivion's touch and the power of necrotic Essence, rather than on their innate mutability. Similarly, their Charms often heavily favour decay and slow collapse rather than a quick succession.

Nihilic Charms use the keywords found in Manual Of Exalted Power: Abyssals, as well as the Gift keyword from Manual of Exalted Power: Lunars (for their All-Consuming Void Transformation). In addition, many of their Charms have an Affinity keyword. These Charms have added effects if the Nihil has devoured a soul that has affinity with the target of the Charm. Using an Affinity Charm does not require the consumption of the soul in question.
