Dragon's Tooth
Artefact • (Terrestrial rank)
One of the smallest magical weapons, a Dragon’s Tooth can vary wildly in appearance, as with all artefact weapons, although there are certain common features. Generally the Dragon’s Tooth has a blade 18-24” in length, and 3-5” across. This small size and basic design means that they are among the most commonly made artefact weapons, and many sorcerers see the construction of a Dragon’s Tooth as a final test.
The Dragon’s Tooth gains the appropriate bonuses of the Five Magical Material it is constructed from (the profile below is for one that has not been harmonised), and it costs 3 motes for an Exalt to attune to the weapon. The name “Dragon’s Tooth” is that accorded to the most commonly found type – those constructed of jade. Those constructed of the other Magical Materials have names such as Luna’s Talon (moonsilver), Soulcutter (soulsteel), Phoenix’ Claw (orichalcum) or Silent Doom (starmetal). Some versions of the Dragon's Tooth have a setting for a hearthstone (usually on the pommel) - in those cases the commitment increases to 4 motes, but otherwise the weapon remains the same.

I think this is way overpowered for artifact 1 and a commitment of 2 motes isn't high enough either. A hearthstone amulet, which does nothing other than let you attune a hearthstone, is artifact 1. Heck, a daiklave only has one more defense and two more damage, and that's a level 2 artifact. Pull the hearthstone setting and I think it's just fine though. -EndlessChase
- Overpowered? Guess I can see that, but I've been using the adjusted daiklave for ages which beats this by one on Accuracy & Defence and by 2 on damage, so I didn't worry that much. :) How about 2m commitment for one w/o a Hearthstone setting & 4m for one with one? - Moxiane
I think, you should adjust the commitment to 3, and discard the hearthstone setting, then this weapon is absolutly ok. But I think that it still would be accebtable, if you just discard the hearthstone setting. Personally I believe, that a hardstonesetting, with any special abilitys should always be a level 2 or higher artifact Hui
- Increased commitment to 3m without a Hearthstone socket and 4m with. Decreased Accuracy bonus to +1. - Moxiane
Hi there! Nice work. However, isn't rate 7(!) a bit high? It's the highest I've ever seen. I think that no weapon should have a higher rate than fists have. Clebo
- I don't think it is. In the weapon charts, Smashfists have a rate of 7, Short Daikliaves are Rate 6, as are Razor Claws. Orichalcum Daiklaives manage Rate 6, and most Orichalcum weapons (Even big things like Reavers) manage rate 5. - Kraken
