Perfect Prana of Neural Perception

  • Cost: 5 motes
  • Duration: One scene
  • Type: Speech
  • Minimum Awareness: 2
  • Minimum Moe: 2
  • Prerequisite Charms: Awareness Insight of the Lolita

Expanding her perception with an infusion of Moe, the Lolita learns to feel the subtleties of the structure of the world. Every sensation is magnified fivefold: colors become richer and deeper, sounds more melodic or discordant, etc. The world’s beauty and brightness becomes painfully obvious to the Lolita, who exists in a world she does not seem to belong to. In addition to adding her Moe to all Awareness rolls, this Charm allows the Gothic Lolita to achieve feats beyond those of ordinary humans, as the Bishonen Charm Superb Sensory Prana. Some examples follow:

Sight: the character can tell the color of a Magical Girl’s battle suit at 500 yards distance, at night. She can tell the pattern of the threads in a yukata, and with a legendary success, she can distinguish a Robot Girl’s skin color variations on her multiple body plates and differentiate artificial and organic joints from a distance.

Hearing and Touch: the character can recognize different known kinds of fabric by touch. She reduces the penalty to target unseen characters by -1 and blindness penalties by -2. She can hear conversations normally through thick stone walls. With a legendary success, she can ready by touch and hear people’s heartbeats from a distance.

Smell and Taste: the character can recognize others and hints of their recent activities by smell. She can track by scent, gaining one bonus success when tracking someone who has a scent. The character can identify spices and poisons by taste, as well as other herbal mixtures and concoctions if the character has at least one dot in the appropriate Ability (most likely Medicine, Lore or Occult). With a legendary success, she can detect and identify a few drops of tasteless poison in a wine by noticing the subtle diminishing of the wine’s taste due to the poison’s presence.

Characters using this Charm are no more susceptible to sensory overload than normal.

All-Encompassing Eyes of the Lolita

  • Cost: 7 motes
  • Duration: One scene
  • Type: Speech
  • Minimum Awareness: 4
  • Minimum Moe: 2
  • Prerequisite Charms: Perfect Prana of Neural Perception

By attuning herself to the air that surrounds her, the land that supports her and the light that shines upon her, she gains the ability to sense the shape of the world around her and the structures of Moe within all living and inert beings. For the rest of the scene, the Gothic Lolita’s visual range is perfect (360°). In addition, she gains a continual perception of her immediate surroundings, up to her Awareness * 25 feet distant. This “mental picture” of course includes living beings. If there’s a physical barrier that would normally prevent sight to this range (such as a wall separating two rooms), the Gothic Lolita’s player must roll Perception + Awareness to find out how detailed the information on what’s behind the barrier is. One success might yield “the room is approximately 10 x 10 with three humanoids beings in it.” Three successes might impart “the next room is obviously a steamy hot spring, containing three beautiful girls, each wearing nothing but a towel.” Five successes imparts the information given above, plus estimates of their physical Attributes, their permanent Moe scores, what kind of Exalt they might be (Caste included), where their equipment is placed, exact details on where they’re sitting, and with a little luck, it might reveal the presence of the peeping perv hidden just beyond the Charm’s range.

While this Charm is active, the Lolita cannot be surprised by any means, magical or mundane. Should there be any magical effect that conceals individuals or veils particular information about a character (like a Charm that makes a character invisible or makes an Exalt appear to be another kind of Exalt), a contested Attribute + Ability roll (most likely Perception + Awareness vs. Dexterity + Stealth) decides which effect prevails. This Charm grants the Lolita two automatic successes on all such rolls. The range of this Charm is doubled for every two additional motes of Moe spent.

Neural Shutdown Technique

  • Cost: 2 motes per turn
  • Duration: Special
  • Type: Speech
  • Minimum Awareness: 4
  • Minimum Moe: 2
  • Prerequisite Charms: Perfect Prana of Neural Perception

By making a snapping motion with her fingers, a character with this Charm may dull the awareness of a target within her line of sight. The Lolita’s player rolls Manipulation + Awareness against a difficulty of the target’s Moe. Each success allows the Lolita to reduce all the target’s Awareness dice pools by one die for the duration of the Charm. This Charm cannot reduce a target’s dice pool lower than his Moe score. At the Storyteller’s discretion, this penalty may also apply to other tasks requiring precise sensory acuity, such as Archery attacks. The Moe cost of this Charm must be paid prior to the activation roll.

Moe Disruption Technique

  • Cost: 5 motes, 1 Willpower
  • Duration: One minute or one scene; see text
  • Type: Subtle/Mental
  • Minimum Awareness: 5
  • Minimum Moe: 4
  • Prerequisite Charms: Neural Shutdown Technique

After mastering the art of suppressing another’s physical senses, the most skilled Lolitas learn how to actually use their own Moe to suppress her victim’s ability to perceive and manipulate Moe. The character makes an ordinary attack, either hand-to-hand or ranged. If the attack hits (regardless of whether it actually deals damage or not), the character makes an Awareness + Moe roll with a difficulty of 3 for the Lolita to correctly judge the patterns of Moe around the target. If the roll succeeds, the player then makes a Willpower + Moe roll against a difficulty of the target’s permanent Moe. If the Lolita succeeds, the cost of all Charms and sorcery used by the target is increased by the Lolita’s Manipulation score, plus 1 mote per additional success equal to or above twice the target’s Moe.

This surcharge applies to every activation of a Charm, meaning it may be paid multiple times per turn if an Exalt, for example, uses Re-Fun or Re-Useless defensive Charms. If Combos are involved, then the surcharge is applied to every Charm in the Combo, every time one of these Charms is activated. The effects of the Charm linger for the remainder of the scene, or one minute, whichever is shorter. This Charm is explicitly permitted to be part of a Combo with Charms of other abilities.

Reality Revision: Perfect Annihilation of Moe

  • Cost: 15 motes, 1 Willpower
  • Duration: Special; see text
  • Type: Speech
  • Minimum Awareness: 7
  • Minimum Moe: 7
  • Prerequisite Charms: Moe Disruption Technique

The ultimate expression of the Gothic Lolita’s disruption techniques, this Charm goes beyond the boundaries of the Moe Disruption Technique and completely severs a opponent’s connection to her own Moe. Needless to say, there is nothing more horrible and terrifying to a cute being than having their Moe denied. It is believed that the purpose of the Lords of No Fun is to create a No Fun Circle spell that mimics the effect of this Charm on a worldwide level. Let’s just hope these are just rumors.

The Lolita makes an ordinary hand-to-hand attack, adding her Willpower to the attack dice pool. If the attack hits, damage is calculated as normal, but post-soak damage dice are doubled. If the attack deals at least one lethal level of damage, the Lolita immediately makes a Wits + Moe roll, with a difficulty equal to the victim’s permanent Moe score. The duration of the Charm’s effect is decided by the number of extra successes on the roll, as follows:

1-2 successes: One scene
3-4 successes: One day
5-6 successes: One week
7-8 successes: One month
9-10 successes: One year
11-14 successes: One decade
15+ successes: Permanent (Available only to Lolitas with Moe 8+)

For the duration of the Charm’s effect, the victim cannot perceive or manipulate Moe in any way. This includes but is not limited to: use of Charms, sorcery and necromancy; attuning to weapons made of Magical Materials, recovering Moe through natural rest or the use of a Manse, etc. In addition, the victim’s Charisma is lowered to 2, if it was higher. Gothic Lolitas feels a disturbing ecstasy at the sight of her victim falling prey to such a terrible technique: they immediately lose all points of Irony.

If this Charm is used against an ordinary human or any other creature incapable of channeling Moe, the surge of the Lolita’s Moe invading the victim’s body is violently expelled in a powerful explosion of uncontrolled Moe. Every creature within a radius of (the sum of the Lolita’s Virtues) yards (the Lolita included) takes dice of aggravated damage equal to the Lolita’s Moe score. This damaged is soaked normally.

Reality Revision: Shadow of Reality

  • Cost: 15 motes, 1 Willpower
  • Duration: Special
  • Type: Re-Useless
  • Minimum Awareness: 6
  • Minimum Moe: 6
  • Prerequisite Charms: Neural Shutdown Technique

Shadow of Reality is the Ultimate Illusion, a power than numbs the victim’s perception of reality and makes him see, hear and feel things that are not real. Its use is extremely limited, but it’s a terrifying power in the right hands.

The Gothic Lolita chooses another Reality Revision Charm or a spell of the Bedlam or Gothic Circles of Necromancy. She must know the Charm or spell in question. When activated this Charm, the Lolita “invokes” a “shadow” version of the chosen Charm or spell. It is a powerful illusion, but an illusion nonetheless. However, if the Lolita’s skill is great enough, the effect might be so convincing that the target(s) assume(s) it to be real, and then it becomes real.

The target must roll Wits + Awareness. If he scores fewer successes than the Lolita’s permanent Moe rating, she takes the effect of the chosen Charm/spell as if the Lolita had used the real Charm/spell. If the target scores equal to or higher than the Lolita’s Moe, but fewer than twice the same amount, he doesn’t recognize the effect as an illusion, but the illusion passes right through the target with no effect. However, the illusion is so mind-boggling that the target loses his action for the turn. If the target scores successes equal to or higher than twice the Lolita’s permanent Moe, he recognizes the illusion for what it is, and the Charm ends without effect.

If the Charm/spell chosen is an area effect, all potential targets within the area are affected. This Charm is resolved the same way whether the Charm/spell chosen affects other targets or the Lolita herself.

Permanent [Sense] Neural Stimulation

  • Cost: None
  • Duration: Permanent
  • Type: Special
  • Minimum Awareness: 2
  • Minimum Moe: 2
  • Prerequisite Charms: Perfect Prana of Neural Perception

Moe enhances the Loli’s senses. This is actually a set of three Charms, one that heightens sight, one that heightens hearing and touch and one that heightens smell and taste. This Charm gives two bonus successes on Awareness actions that use the relevant senses. It also allows the character to perform feats of perception impossible to humans and other Exalts, as follows:

Sight: the character can see in darkness without penalty. Her enhanced vision pierces all shades of gloom, from moonlight nights to the utter blackness of the Labyrinth. The character can also see clearly through fog or smoke.

Hearing and Touch: the character’s hearing reaches areas of the spectrum beyond the normal human range. She detects both low-frequency sounds and ultrasound. She reduces any environmental penalty to hearing by her Moe, and she can also echolocate, allowing her to navigate flawlessly through the dark. She’s still incapable of truly “seeing” anything, though (unless she also has the version of this Charm that enhances sight). She can detect specific materials by touch and detect the presence of any earthbound creature near her, to a range of (her Moe) yards. She can read and understand printed images and paintings with the touch of her fingertips

Smell and Taste: the character can gauge another character’s current mood by scent. The two successes granted also apply to Survival rolls to predict weather, as the Lolita can now feel changes in environmental temperature and humidity in the air with her tongue.

Gothic Lolita Danger Sense

  • Cost: 1 mote
  • Duration: Instant
  • Type: Re-Useless
  • Minimum Awareness: 5
  • Minimum Moe: 2
  • Prerequisite Charms: Perfect Prana of Neural Perception

The Lolita gains a “sixth sense” that warns her whenever immediate danger threatens. This Charm guarantees success on any valid Awareness roll to notice immediate mortal danger. This Charm works whether in or out of battle, awake or asleep. If the Exalt has a chance to notice a surprise attack during a prolonged struggle, a poisonous dart thrown at her while in the bathtub, an invisible opponent or a carefully concealed trap, she does so.

If the Exalt’s player must make such a roll and has a chance of failing it, and if the Lolita can invoke this Charm, then this Charm invokes itself automatically. At that time, if the player has a Combo containing this Charm, she may declare the use of that Combo instead of the Gothic Lolita Danger Sense.

Gothic Lolita Danger Sense does not invoke itself if the character has already used her Charm for the action, if the character does not have any motes of Moe, if the character is Inactive and cannot become active, if the character is already certain to succeed on the Awareness roll or if the character cannot normally attempt an Awareness roll.

Obsidian Eyes of the Lolita

  • Cost: 4 motes per sense/10 motes (plus 1 Willpower; see text)
  • Duration: Instant/(Moe) turns
  • Type: Re-Useless/Speech
  • Minimum Awareness: 4
  • Minimum Moe: 3
  • Prerequisite Charms: Perfect Prana of Neural Perception

By projecting her senses by linking her Moe to the natural flows of Moe throughout the world, the Lolita gains the ability to both scry locations from a distance and detect and block attempts to scry her current location. The first effect works exactly as the Bishonen Charm Sense Projection Technique.

To detect attempts to scry on her, the Lolita must spend 10 motes of Moe and make a Perception + Awareness roll contested by the opponent’s Intelligence + Awareness roll. Should the Lolita succeed on this roll, she may reflexively spend a point of temporary Willpower to immediately sever the magical connection and end the opponent’s scrying technique.

Reality Revision: Pearl Eyes of Absolute Perception

  • Cost: 22 motes, 1 Willpower
  • Duration: One scene
  • Type: Speech
  • Minimum Awareness: 6
  • Minimum Moe: 6
  • Prerequisite Charms: Obsidian Eyes of the Lolita

The laws of reality are clear in the Lolita’s mind, and the flows of Moe in the world are like words on an open book to her. When this Charm is invoked, the Lolita’s pupils disappear, her eyes turning into blank white orbs. This Charm lets the Gothic Lolita see everything that is deliberately concealed within the new, expanded range of her vision. She can see as far as (her Moe * 200) yards while this Charm is active. This Charm renders Stealth effects, deception effects and concealment effects, natural and unnatural, inapplicable against the Gothic Lolita. She may notice the effects, but they have no effect on her. This includes invisibility, mundane disguises, disguises augmented by Cat Girl shapeshifting or Helping Goddess Disguises and Cheat Codes and compulsion and illusion effects that force her to deny reality. If another Charm contests this Charm’s effects, Pearl Eyes of Absolute Perception adds twice the Lolita’s Moe in automatic successes to the opposed roll to maintain the effects of this Charm. This Charm is considered a perfect defense when used to prevent a surprise attack.

Pervert Neutralization Technique

  • Cost: 3 motes
  • Duration: Instant
  • Type: Re-Useless
  • Minimum Awareness: 4
  • Minimum Moe: 3
  • Prerequisite Charms: Perfect Prana of Neural Perception

Gothic Lolitas won’t allow lowly eyes to gaze upon their glorious bodies. Should a character try to pierce through physical and/or magical barriers to see her skin, this Charm prevents such an effect. This effect is automatic if the source of the unveiling effect is a character with less Moe than the Lolita. If the Lolita’s Moe equals the other character’s, a contested Intelligence + Awareness (for the Gothic Lolita) vs. Wits + Awareness roll decides which effect prevails. If the other character’s Moe is higher than the Lolita’s, the difference becomes automatic successes for the target character’s Wits + Awareness roll.

On a side note, it is said that the hatred of Magical Girls for Gothic Lolitas becomes particularly strong after they discover that Lolitas possess this ability. After all, all Magical Girls wish they had such a defense against the Bishonen’s Penetrating Vision.

Comments

Moe Disruption Technique is vicious, but it's Moe 4, so that works. "he doesn’t recognize the effect as an illusion, but the illusion passes right through the target with no effect." Does this mean that the victim of Shadow of Reality doesn't ever recognize it as illusion or just doesn't recognize it until after he's boggled, and could then realize it didn't do what it was supposed to? And three Reality Revision charms in one tree. Dang. --JohnBiles

He doesn't ever recognize the illusion, but the effect is not resolved. So the target just think the Lolita screwed up or something. --Wings
