Solar Socialize Charms by CrownedSun

Icebreaking Introduction Meditation

 Cost: 4 motes
 Duration: Instant
 Type: Simple
 Minimum Socialize: 4
 Minimum Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: Welcome Guest Method (from CB:Eclipse)

With a soft smile and a look, the Exalt can attract the attention of any one in the room and strike up a conversation. If the subject is by herself, she approaches the Exalt on her own or reacts to him positively should he make the first move. If the subject is in a group of other people this charm allows the Exalt to either separate her from this group for individual attention, or allows him to flawlessly enter the conversation with the group. None of these effects give offense or have any chance of failure; this is a perfect effect.

The conversation itself flows smoothly, but the subject will automatically have a good impression of the Exalt and will react favorably to him as long as he doesn't behave too inappropriately. If later Socialize rolls are required during the initial conversation, the subject can ignore the negative effects of any botches, and treats failures as if he achieved a single success.

Perfect Golden Celebration

 Cost: 8 motes, 1 willpower
 Duration: One party
 Type: Simple
 Minimum Socialize: 5
 Minimum Bureaucracy: 3
 Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Icebreaking Introduction Meditation, Understanding the Court, Deft Official's Way

No one can throw a better party than one of the Eclipse Caste, and Solars with this charm are among the best at organizing any kind of event and running it flawlessly. This charm is used when invitations are first written up (or when the party begins), and the essence remains commited until the end of the party when the last guest leaves.

If the Solar sends out invitations, a successful willpower roll is required to refuse to attend. Unless circumstances require otherwise, most will attend the event. If it is necessary for them to refuse, or they do not wish to for some reasons, then they need to make the Willpower roll. If they achieve less successes than the Exalts Essence rating, they must send a formal refusal and apology.

When planning and preparing for the party, everyone involved gains a number of automatic success on all Socialize and Bureaucracy rolls equal to the Exalts Essence score. The Exalt himself in question automatically succeeds in any rolls, without needing to roll at all. This includes cooking, making decorations, and similar tasks as well as the more obvious applications.

Once the party begins, everyone behaves as appropriate for the venue in question. If a funeral, they will behave in a somber and respectful manner while they'll be happy and jovial for a birthday party. Anyone attempting to act out must have good reason (according to his Virtues), and must spend a willpower point and make a relevant Virtue roll. The event is proof against minor mishaps and accidents, and everything will generally go well unless overwhelming circumstances or ill-intent gets in the way.

Heaven itself sanctions such Perfect Golden Celebrations, and punishes any Solar or invited guest vain enough to use such an event as an excuse to launch an ambush against his enemies. The effect of this curse is equal to what would occur if the violator broke an Eclipse Oath with the Solar.

The Rose has Thorns

 Cost: 6 motes
 Duration: Instant
 Type: Simple
 Minimum Socialize: 5
 Minimum Essence: 4
Prerequisite Charms: Venomous Rumors Technique, Distracting Banter Method (CB: Eclipse)

The Exalt with this charm can hurl invective and witty retorts with such force that they can actually cause physical damage to the target, enabling him to turn the art of verbal dueling into a literalism. The Exalt makes a Manipulation + Socialize roll, and chooses to frame the invective that he uses against one of the target's virtues: Compassion, Conviction, Temperance or Valor. The charm does bashing damage equal to the Solar's Appearance + Essence, which can only be soaked by the virtue targeted. The successes on the Manipulation + Socialize roll add to the damage inflicted as normal, boosting the damage recieved significantly.

Hmm, it seems to me that Icebreaking Introduction Meditation's duration, from how you describe it in the 2nd paragraph, is one scene not instant. So, I'd either add a willpower to the cost and call the duration one scene or change the description so you don't automatically avoid botches in subsequent converstation. - Qaphsiel

Nah; the point is that your introduction is SOOOO good that it keeps you from botching for the rest of the meeting. The magic is confined to that one instant, however. No commitment, can be used in combos, etc. - CrownedSun

The Rose Has Thorns = Words of Power for Solars! yay! I like the idea. However, while I think we could use more Appearance-based Charms, I don't think this one is suitable; Appearance has little to do with wit and invective. I'd set the damage to, say, Manipulation + Presence. - Quendalon
