God-Watching Spectacles

Black Jade Laced Spectacles
Artifact •
Commitment: 2 motes

Common amongst many Exalted due to their amazing utility, the God-Watching Spectacles are something of a necessity for people such as diplomats, sorcerers, and celestial bureaucrats stationed in Creation. Keeping tabs on dematerialized spirits is hard enough without being able to touch them, it's even harder if they cannot be seen!

The God-Watching Spectacles are a pair of thin, silver-framed glasses with extremely dark lenses made of black jade. While the wearer's eyes are completely obscured by anyone attempting to look at them from the outer side of the lenses, the wearer can see relatively clear through them, though they do obscure light a little bit.

While attuned to the God-Watching Spectacles, the character can, without any trouble, see dematerialized spirits. While the glasses obscure light enough to make everything a few shades darker, dematerialized beings can be spotted because they apparently do not suffer this dampening effect. An Exalt looking through the spectacles sees dematerialized spirits as if he were not wearing the dark glasses.

The presence of black jade in this Artifact is not enough to alter the cost of attunement for non-Terrestrial Exalted.

Is ther really a need for this? I mean, the Essence Scrying Visor is all this and more. - Scrollreader

  • Shrug.* I don't really see Level 1 Artifacts as things that are needed. Not exclusively, anyway. I just liked the idea of something simple, stylish, and slightly useful. ~ Seiraryu

I happen to like this concept a lot. I had a mortal thaumaturge a long time ago who had nearly the exact same artifact, just with a different name. Nice to see someone who understands the appeal of both magical sunglasses and trinket artifacts. Props for putting this up. ^^ - Greymane

Grazi! Glad someone liked it. The Spectacles' sister Artifact,Seiraryu/GodSmackingGloves were made basically on the same premise. ~ Seiraryu
