Phoenix Stone

Level 5 Fire Aspected Hearthstone.

Fire Ruby of the Dragons.

a.k.a. the Phoenix Stone.

This level 5 Fire-aspected Hearthstone has one great power. It gives the attuned bearer a second chance at life. Normally resurrection is unknown in Creation, but this Hearthstone side steps the rule a little. At the point of the wearers death, the Hearthstone captures their soul and memory and Exaltation shard. Then over the course of an hour, fire spreads out from the Hearthstone and burns the body of the Exalt to ash. Nestled amongst the soot, a red jade egg is left, which cracks open to birth a Pheonix, endowed with the memory and soul of the fallen, a new life, as a bird of fire. Perhaps in time, such a creature might even learn how to adopt its old form….

Are you sure it should take the Exaltation shard? I mean - turning them into an elemental spirit with all their memories, sure - but that means one less Exalt out there, forever, unless it's a Terrestrial. - Hulen

Well, I guess when the Pheonix form is eventually killed, then the shard would be freed again. Given that Solars could live for 7,000 years, thats about right. Essentially I'd see the Phoenix stage as a stepping stone to reforming your old body. And when you did that, you'd want to still be an Exalt.

But you're still, even if you can form your old body, an elemental spirit of fire. Solars still grow old and die - sure, it takes an extremely long time, but it happens. This, in the long view (the only one taken by entities that Exalt others, naturally), prevents stagnation. Elemental spirits do not die of old age. They have to be killed. (Now, this is detail-quibbling. An Exalt mindset grafted onto a fire elemental's body is probably going to make the wrong enemy and die sometime, especially as it does not appear to keep its Charms, which are dependent on its Exalted nature.) - Hulen
