House Rules
I have random house rules that I use, but they're mostly just to make the game interesting, and easier for me as a GM.
Martial Arts
The only House rule I have for this is that a Solar may take Violet Bier of Sorrows form if and ONLY if they have Mentor ••• or better, with some serious thought on how they met their Sidereal mentor and convinced them to teach them the style. However, they may not take more than 3 charms from the tree unless their Mentor rating is higher. Mentor ••••• will NOT get you the whole tree, though.
Linguistics and Languages
I like Blaque's erratta for this, but i decided that I needed something simpler for my games, so here goes.
0 - You can read and write 1 language that you've been taught from birth
• - You know 1 language other than your native tongue
•• - You know 2 languages other than your native tongue
••• - You know 4 languages other than your native tongue
•••• - You can read and write any modern/common language in creation, and can speak 4 extra languages
••••• - You can read, write, and speak every modern/common language in creation and can figure out any you don't know with a wits+linguistics extended roll, dif 15 (IE: You make multiple rolls, each roll representing 1 hour of dedicated study of the language. You must accumulate 15 successes. If you roll NO successes, you start over.)
