Why swords and spears? Why choose a weapon not affiliated with the Crimson Panoply constellations? I'd have gone with fighting gauntlets and spears, I think. - David.

Spears were chosen for the obvious associations. Swords were chosen largely to facilitate sidereals who specialize in multiple of the 5B styles. In this case, VBoS and CPoV. - Scrollreader who may yet change the weapons, once the styles are finished, or if somebody has a compelling argument against swords.

On the one hand, I like your reasoning for including swords, but on the other hand, I think I'd prioritize weapons more appropriate to the style, before considering cross-style compatibility. It's always nice to be able to use your weapon with all of your Charms, but I think part of the charm of multi-style martial artists is that they can't rely on a weapon, but have to go unarmed to really utilize all they have. - David.
Hrm. Well, a martial artist who is a siddie who is working on a second style is essentially taking it at the cost of sidereal MA charms he might otherwise be learning. And while, in general, I agree with you about cross-style martial artists paying the price by fighting barehanded, in the case of of the five bureau styles, which are specifically designed to interlock ... I'm all for encouraging that interlock, just a little. - Scrollreader Who may yet add fighting gauntlets.
If the Sidereal is really determined to use both Styles, well, that's a compelling case to have a sword in one hand and gauntlet in the other...DeathBySurfeit, in a rare flash of insight
Don't have my books handy, but as of the PG, isn't it 'clarified' that you can't assume the form with an out of form weapon? IE: no Stacking snake form and distracting banter on that Dailave of conquest? - Scrollreader
I don't think you can really use out-of-Form weapons with a Form Charm. That said ... it's not entirely clear how that works. Maybe the Form's effects are just suspended for the turn that the inappropriate weapon is used. In that case, maybe you could argue that you could have both Forms active, but could only actually benefit from one, so in the turn you use the gauntlet, VBoS Form is suspended, so CPoV Form's effects can emerge? That's a kinda liberal reading of the Form-compatibility rules, though, I think. :) - David.
Yeeeeah. Having just checked my PG. I don't think I'd have a chance in hell of convincing my storyteller to let that fly. So, at the moment, I'll leave them with a fairly wide selection of weapons. It /is/ the battles style, after all. - Scrollreader
