Description

Many people who meet V'neef Reqev underestimate him. He has the undefinable air of the scholar about him, a faint whiff of the abstract. A slight man, with dark skin and eyes and an unruly mop of bowl-cut hair, few would ever see him as dangerous. They who would not, of course, would be making a very serious mistake. Reqev is indeed a scholar, a linguist and a sorcerer, but he has chosen to turn his knowledge toward serious and pracitcal pursuit: the killing of Anathema. To that end, his has done what few before him were willing to do - he has joined his mind with that of demons in order to convert the whole into an efficient killing unit. Of those in the Hunt with him, only Felica understands what he has done, or the toll it is taking on his sanity, but she remains silent for now. He still has some time yet to go, she believes, before he becomes truly mad.

Opening Move

The tomescu Materialize and Reqev begins casting Flying Guillotine, 10m+1WP (see Savant and Sorcerer, pg 107), targeting the "most dangerous" opponent he can see when the spell is completed on the following turn. Successful or not, he will only try this once.

Typical Offense

Reqev is not afraid to rush into combat with his tomescu protectors beside him. He will engage nearly any foe, using his great speed and high dice pool to make three attacks with Unspoken Grief (Acc 15, 14, 13).

Optionally, if he has Essence to spare and must attack a foe at range, he will use either Elemental Bolt Attack through his elemental lens, 1m/4L (see pg 181 of E:DB) or, for less Essence but a closer range, simply hurl Unspoken Grief using Loyal Weapon, 1m/attack (see pg 186 of E:DB), though usually no more than twice per turn (Acc 8, 7).

Typical Defense

Reqev's tomescu provide parries for him, but he can and will use Flickering Candle Meditation, 1m+1m/2 dice (see pg 205 of E:DB if a dodge seems required. He will abort to a Full Parry if faced with a Combo, but rarely reserves actions for defense.

Other Notes

After casting Flying Guillotine, Reqev has only 10m left, though he can stunt to regain up to 20. He will use and stunt to regain these motes freely unless he has reason to believe there is an enemy sorcerer, such as by having Flying Guillotine countered. If he thinks he needs to, he will hoard those motes carefully and attempt to stunt for more in order to counter any incoming spells.

Note that the enhancement of With One Miind also inproves Reqev's attack roll for Flying Guillotine.

Special Powers: Tomescu gain a free parry or counterattack at their full pool against any attack made against them.

Tomescu appear as large clouds of fog, from which insectile legs, vicious weapons or both will sometimes appear. They will always parry with their Hook Sword Limb, and will attack in the following order: Spear Limb (Acc 10), Hook Sword Limb (Acc 7), Sword Limb (Acc 10), Axe Limb (Acc 7). Against a heavily armored opponent, they will substitute Sledge Limb (Acc 5) for the Axe Limb. Reqev's tomescu are extras.
