Character Description (very rough background - will be properly written up later)

King has son, daughter, son (in age order) - my heroic mortal is younger son. King is nice friendly chap, and a Lunar comes to pay court to him - wanting him to pay fealty to the Lunar. King refuses and Lunar leaves, but shortly afterwards Arithon is awoken by sounds of a fight in the hallways. The sounds quieten very quickly so he goes back to sleep - a decision he would later regret. King is very different from then on, he seems a completely different man. Elder son has nasty (fatal) "accident" and daughter vanishes. Arithon thinks it wise to vanish also and so runs away. He knows there is an immaculate temple in the nearby kingdom of Kamergan and figures a Lunar (who he suspects has taken the place of his father) would hesitate to go there, so he goes there and uses his l33t social skills to become a well connected courtier type, who happens to be reasonably skilled with a blade. He is hiding his true identity.

Expanded Backgrounds

Artifact: 1 - Alithiel
Alithiel was created by a powerful mortal sorcerer as a symbol of the s'Ffalenn lineage. The true king and his decendants were supposed to be the only ones who could use it. When the Lunar took over he didn't realise the significance of the sword (as it was at the time) so Arithon sneaked into the throne room (where it was left unguarded) and changed it into a small dagger, then snuck it out. Whatever form it is in it shows a s'Ffalenn crest, but you have to look closely to see it.\\

System: This weapon is a simple tiny dagger which has been enchanted with the water form of Ritual of Elemental empowerment. For the cost of 1 Willpower it can shift into any weapon the user wishes. Per+Awareness diff 3 to spot the crest, and a Lore of 3 or higher (if a native of the area - ranging to 4 or 5 depending on where you're from) to actually know what the crest is (without research of course...).

Contacts: 3 - Being a social whizz, Arithon has quickly made many friends in his new home, and he knows many people who can be trusted in his previous kingdom.
Influence: 3 - Again, due to social adeptness Arithon has quickly inserted himself into the King's court and is now viewed as indispensible by many.
Resources: 3 - Income from various enterprises he has established since arriving. Mostly arranging meetings and changing people's minds.

I can't believe it, Arithon! My favourite character from my favourite author (Janny Wurtz)! ^_^ Obviously you had to tone him down incredibly, and make him a little more sociable for his adjusted role. But its so cool to see him here, even if he isn't a Solar (Night caste?). ^_^ -- BrokenShade

I've read only the first of the books so far (or at least I assume it's the first - The Curse of the Mistwraith). I actually thought I'd give myself a challenge and base the character's stats more on Lysaer (hence the high Charisma, lowish int, high Conviction and lower Compassion) and give him Lysaer's curse - justice. I'm really not sure how I plan to develop him, but if I were to base him completely on Arithon you'd see the int at 4 or 5, along with the compassion... - CorlanDashiva

I'm tempted to bring a character called Lysaer into the game, just to freak you out... ;) - Garden

Okay, now you've spoilt it. Not having read the rest of the books, you don't know what a travesty it is to base Arithon's character on Lysaer (Lie-say-er, or speaker of lies, though he believes them of course). My opinion of what an Arithon would need, besides s'Ahelas foresight, are abilities coming out of his ears, Dexterity and Wits 5 each. He's that fast, and that quick mentally. Melee 5. And Sorcery. ^_^ And elemental power over darkness. It almost seems like a bit much, but wait ... this is exalted. A Question: will your Arithon exalt at some stage? ^_^ -- BrokenShade

Well that's really up to Garden, but I hope so :p - CorlanDashiva

I'm not ruling out the possibility of the characters exalting, but it's going to be very dependent on their actions in game. I'm definately not going to go around exalting people for the fun of it, like a drunken Lytek or something. ;) - Garden
