For each HL of damage the Exalted would have taken, she spends 3 motes to avoid that damage, she -must- spend this much, and cannot lower the damage partway unless the exalt runs out of motes, it is either dodged or not. This does not count as a charm use.

Minimum Essence: 3
Type: Ref
Duration: Inst
Cost: 7m

Description: Flowing gracefully and with the certainty of someone who expected this attack, the Exalted neatly avoids the attack and counterattacks immediately

System: The Exalted perfectly dodges any aware attack, and then may make an immediate counterattack if she has not used her action yet, this can be a default action ( ie. This can be used to counterattack before your initiative, but you lose the action. )

As always, you cannot use a counterattack charm against a counterattack charm - in this case only the dodge effect would happen.

Whirlwind Combo

Prerequisite Charms:
Minimum Martial Arts: 5
Minimum Essence: 5
Type: Extra Action
Duration: Turn
Cost: 8m 1w

Description: The Exalted's Essence flows around her body, flooding every muscle and organ with superhuman speed, and her every motion is faster than the eye can follow.

System: The Exalted has 1 + Ess/2 (round down) dice pools to be split up between combat-related actions as she chooses. Cannot be used for social actions, is not compatible with charms which grant extra actions (including speed of thought, above)

Changes

  • Quickened Perception Method now lasts for a turn, and does not require a dodge action to be used in combination.
  • 100 Strikes Combo now works as CoCT.
  • Twin Strikes Combo now gives MA dice, as opposed to 2 attacks with wierd mechanics.
  • Moved many costs up and down

Comments

I'll look up the standard formatting for MA charms in a bit, but for now, can anyone suggest any balance problems it may have, and any changes which could be made to even the style out somewhat. Diamond

Hi Diamond! Sorry for stepping on your toes, but I thought this would get a lot more responses if it were gussied up a little. If I've copied over any of your changes, you can click on "View other revisions" to look at previous versions of the page. - Quendalon

No, Quendalon, thanks for the help, I had just been trying to do that myself. Diamond

Just a comment on charm names, isnt it confusing a bit to have a charm called "Blank Blank Combo" ? Griffon

I would agree if I had ever seen a combo in Exalted called Something Something <i> Combo. They aren't named like that, so it shouldn't cause any confusion. Also I think that not all martial arts techniques should have needlessly flowery names. It does add to the style if the names are cool, but they needn't necessarily follow the canon style of trying to lengthen the name as much as possible. Diamond

hey canyou use Distance Closing Technique to end up behind and opponent? - Issaru

No, there is a charm higher up which allows you to flank your opponent for the unaware advantege. Although if they were facing away, you would attack them from behind - it moves you to the opponent's nearest side. Diamond
