Essence Solidification Facility
- Author: Darzoni
- Cost: Varies
- Installation Cost: 1 mote
- Duration: Varies
- Type: Reflexive
- Minimum Manipulation: 2
- Minimum Essence: 2
- Prerequisite Charms: Manipulation Enhancement Device
The installation of this device allows the Alchemical to create objects made of Essence. The objects appear phantasmal, with an odd oily sheen similar to the anima effect of the Alchemicals. The cost to produce an object is equal to the resource rating required for the item. These objects last only one scene. Artifacts can be created using this charm, but it costs a number of motes equal to the square of the Artifact's rating, and there is no Magical Material bonus. Hearthstones cannot be replicated.
Alternatively, the Alchemical can effect a more long term solution, costing a number of motes equal to the item's resource rating squared plus 1 willpower. Such items last a month per dot of permanent Essence possessed by the Alchemical. Because of the considerable abuse that weapons must endure, all weapons and armor created through the use of this effect of the Charm will disappear at the end of the scene they see use. Artifacts cannot be created using this version of the charm.
Weapons created through this charm need not follow the same statistics as standard weapon, though it is often cheaper for the Alchemical to follow standard weapon designs. Custom weapons can be created for a cost of 7 motes and 1 willpower for one scene, and have a number of points equal to twice the Alchemical's Essence to distribute among their statistics.
Motes spent on the activation of this Charm are considered committed until the effect ends.
Integral Essence Cannon
- Author: Darzoni
- Cost: Varies
- Installation Cost: 2 motes
- Duration: Instant
- Type: Simple
- Minimum Manipulation: 2
- Minimum Essence: 3
- Prerequisite Charms: Manipulation Enhancement Device
The Alchemical has an Essence Cannon integrated into his person. This Essence Cannon deals (Essence x 5) bashing damage, with a range of (Essence x 25) yards, has an Accuracy of (4 - Essence), and costs a number of motes equal to the Alchemical's Essence rating, with a rate of 2. Anyone hit with the Essence Cannon must make a Stamina + Athletics roll against a difficulty equal to the Alchemical's Essence rating or be knocked back a yard for each health level of bashing damage taken. If attacking a non-living target (like a wall, but not undead), half the damage is dealt as lethal damage. The Alchemical uses Archery or Athletics for attacks with his Essence Cannon.
The main usage of this Charm is as a crowd control device, much like the weapon is used in Creation. In particular, it was used to protect the Tripartite during a food shortage, later known as the Food Riots. However, it saw use during the wars within the Machine God as a siege weapon that could punch holes in walls and let the troops through.
Elsewhere Storage Function
- Author: Darzoni
- Cost: 1 mote
- Installation Cost: 2 motes
- Duration: Instant
- Type: Simple
- Minimum Manipulation: 3
- Minimum Essence: 2
- Prerequisite Charms: Manipulation Enhancement Device
This charm allows the Alchemical to store things in Elsewhere, helping eliminate the need to carry bulky tools through narrow spaces inside Autochthonia. The Alchemical commits one mote per item stored, and it cannot be something substantially bigger than the Alchemical (no hiding warstriders until you're over Essence 6). To end the effect, the Alchemical withdraws the committed mote, which brings the stored item back with it.
Magical Material Resonance Field
- Author: Darzoni
- Cost: Varies
- Installation Cost: 2 motes
- Duration: One scene
- Type: Simple
- Minimum Manipulation: 3
- Minimum Essence: 2
- Prerequisite Charms: Manipulation Enhancement Device
The Alchemical is able to imbue objects with the same qualities as one of the Five Magical Materials. They find it easier to make objects resonate with their caste's Magical Material, the charm costing a number of motes equal to the attunement cost for a similar object or item. For other materials, it costs twice as much to activate this charm, and the Alchemical must spend a point of Willpower as well. The object gains the Five Magical Materials bonus as appropriate to the type of object for one scene. This Charm only works on objects made from metal or stone, and cannot be used in conjunction with Essence Solidification Facility because the objects created are made of Essence, not metal or stone.
Essence Manipulation Channels
- Author: Darzoni
- Cost: None
- Installation Cost: 1 mote
- Duration: Permanent
- Type: Persistant
- Minimum Manipulation: 2
- Minimum Essence: 2
- Prerequisite Charms: Manipulation Enhancement Device
Starmetal 'veins' are implanted into the Alchemicals' skin, and channels ambient essence into the Alchemical's essence tank. Mechanically, this charm increases the number of motes recovered per hour by 1 mote. This charm can be taken a number of times equal to the Alchemical's Manipulation rating.
For the cost of 1 willpower, the Alchemical may drain a number of motes from any being he is touching, draining a maximum number of motes equal to the Essence of the affected being. Alternatively, he may reverse this effect, restoring 1 willpower to beings without an temporary Essence pool, or restoring 1 mote per mote spent to the being he is touching. For obvious reasons, these effects can't be used on the Alchemical's self.
Elsewhere Essence Storage
- Author: Darzoni
- Cost: Special
- Installation Cost: 2 motes
- Duration: Permanent
- Type: Special
- Minimum Manipulation: 3
- Minimum Essence: 2
- Prerequisite Charms: Auxilliary Essence Storage Unit
By creating a storage place for his temporary essence in Elsewhere, the Alchemical is able to side step the normal growth rate Alchemical experience. This Charm can only be taken when the Alchemical chooses to upgrade his permanent Essence rating. Instead of growing larger, the Alchemical remains the size he was prior to the upgrade, but retains the Essence rating he paid for. Each purchase of this Charm only 'absorbs' one dot of Essence for the purposes of determining the Alchemical's size. The Alchemical can only purchase this charm a number of times equal to his Manipulation rating. Additionally, to maintain the link between Elsewhere and the Alchemical's Essence storage reduces the number of motes regained each hour by the Alchemical by 1 for each time this charm is purchased.

Comments
- I condensed some charms into each other because on second thought it seemed like needless speedbumps or specialization. - Darzoni
I'd recommend changing the explanation for Elsewhere Essence Storage. It would make much more sense if, instead of storing Essence in Elsewhere, the Alchemical is actually storing excess mass. So she actually does continue to increase in size the way she's supposed to, but all of the excess wires and gears and ballast and stuff stays in Elsewhere, so she looks the same size. - Quendalon
- Actually, to be honest, I plan on eliminating Elsewhere Essence Storage entirely because I have a size-changing charm that is probably more thematically and conceptually effective for what I wanted to do with Elsewhere Essence Storage. I've just been incredibly busy lately. -Darzoni (4/20/2004)
