Currently, almost all hearthstones have no disadvantages to their use, while a few have advantages -and- disadvantages.

However, it suggests in various sorcery books that although deattunement and explosions are the most -likely- results from tinkering with a manse without knowledge, there are often other detrimental effects on the heartstone bearer.

Thus, I propose that anyone who likes the idea can also suggest optional damaged effects, which would take effect if the stone or manse were damaged in some way. Stones which made the bearer light and able to jump great distances, for example, would still function, but would make every attack against the bearer cause significant knockback, and potential bashing damage from hitting things. If people start just putting a line or two in about what their hearthstones might do if destabilized by someone aiming for a bad effect or some other unfortunate consequence, then storytellers will have another way to point out that hearthstones are vunerable, without actually just removing the benefit all togeather.

Canon hearthstones that people wish to write up detrimental effects for can be listed below:

Wall sticking stone, when damaged, means you cannot jump.

Windhands Gemstone: When damaged this stone requires you to attempt to parry or dodge all incoming ranged objects, regardless if they are actual attacks. Falling leaves for example. Other ways it could be damaged include losing the ability to provide parryes or dodges, or, should the stone be seriously damaged, it might even harm your reflexes (-1 dex). --BrilliantRain

Gem of Sappphire & Emerald: When damaged, this stone: may cause any spell you cast to be subject to Sapphire Countermagic, may only be as effacious as Emerald Countermagic, may cause adverse effects while countering spells of both circles, or it may even backfire totally and reduce your ability to resist spells at all (-5 dice on any roll to avoid the effects of Sorcery). --BrilliantRain

Gem of Incomparable Well-Being: As the stone continually heals you, your hair and fingernails grow longer, with new sets of teeth pushing through your mouth on what seems like a weekly basis.
Stone of the Revolutionary Dog: Your character becomes more and more overconfident, unable to fail a conviction roll, and unable even to spend WP to purposely resist your conviction.
Seven-Leaping Dragons Stone: Almost everything you do starts to become martial-arts tinged. You find yourself shatting dishes as you accidentally throw them into the cupboard, and as you attempt to kiss your beloved, your head snaps forward into a headbutt. Eventually, even simple actions and motions become problematic, as even attempting to insert a key in a lock invariably involves punching the locking mechanism and using the key as a stabbing implement, and unless you've got a pretty sturdy key, unlocking that door is now going to be a bit tougher.
