Dodge. Running from fights has never been big for the Lunars, but sometimes it's a lifesaver.

Bowing Reed Stance
Cost: 3 motes Duration: One Scene Type: Reflexive Minimum Dexterity: 1 Minimum Essence: 1 Prerequisite Charms: None
If you use a Full Dodge, you suffer no penalties for multiple attacks.
Bending Before the Storm
Cost: 3 motes Duration: Instant Type: Reflexive Minimum Dexterity: 2 Minimum Essence: 2 Prerequisite Charms: Bowing Reed Stance
Provides a Dodge attempt at it's full normal dicepool, converting Dexterity dice into automatic successes.
Riding the Storm's Edge
Cost: 5 motes Duration: Instant Type: Reflexive Minimum Dexterity: 3 Minimum Essence: 2 Prerequisite Charms: Bending Before the Storm
Provides a Dodge attempt at it's full normal dicepool, converting Dexterity dice into automatic successes. The Lunar also moves a number of yards equal to the number of successes, to a maximum of Strength + Athletics.
Flowing Body Evasion
Cost: 1 mote Duration: Instant Type: Supplemental Minimum Dexterity: 3 Minimum Essence: 2 Prerequisite Charms: Bowing Reed Stance
Allows a Lunar to attempt to dodge an attack that is normally undodgeable. This does not provide a dodge attempt, but it make any dodge applicable.
Dance of the Moonsilver Rabbit
Cost: 6 motes, 1 Willpower Duration: One Scene Type: Reflexive Minimum Dexterity: 4 Minimum Essence: 3 Prerequisite Charms: Bending Before the Storm, Flowing Body Evasion
Converts a Lunar's Dexterity dice to successes for any Dodge they make this scene. If they do not have a dodge available, they may make one with just their Dexterity, which is converted into pure successes.
Example: Ma-Ha-Suchi has a Dexterity of 6, a Dodge of 4 and an Essence of 4. His dodge pool is 14. Under the Dance of the Moonsilver Rabbit, his Dodge pool is 8, with 6 automatic successes. Furthermore, if he does not actively dodge, he reflexively gets a 6 success dodge.
Shadow of Moonlight
Cost: 6 motes Duration: Instant Type: Reflexive Minimum Dexterity: 5 Minimum Essence: 3 Prerequisite Charms: Dance of the Moonsilver Rabbit
Make a Dexterity + Dodge roll, difficulty 1. If successful, you dodge any dodgeable attack perfectly.
Mongoose Tempts the Serpent
Cost: 7 motes, 1 Willpower Duration: One Scene Type: Reflexive Minimum Dexterity: 5 Minimum Essence: 3 Prerequisite Charms: Riding the Storm's Edge, Dance of the Moonsilver Rabbit
Allows the Lunar to move up to their Strength in yards after any dodge.
I've been looking at your rules with the intent on using them for a character in an upcoming game. I'm just trying to clarify though, about your defensive charms, because they look hella powerful.
Assume I'm a Dex 6, Dodge 4, Essence 3, Lunar. I have a dodge pool of 13. I use Bending Before the Storm and spend 3 dice. What happens?
The way I'm reading it, I roll seven dice (My Dodge+Essence) and get six automatic successes (my Dexterity)... Which is crazy-good. That makes me pretty much impervious too anything besides seriously charm-stacked attacks.
The only other way I read it is that I -can- convert -up to- my dexterity into sucesses for 3 motes a dot. Is that what you mean? - Halloween
- Hrm. It's definitely three motes for the whole dodge. IIRC, my basis for the cost was from Impeding the Flow, the Sidereal Parry of three motes that simply kills any non-Perfect attack. BBtS is mildly inferior (it can fail) and mildly superior (...but not easily, and requires nothing more than freedom of movement). DS
- Bad comparison. Impeding the Flow is costed how it is because of lower Sidereal Essence pools and a lack of alternatives (few reflexive defenses). I'd price BBtS at 4 motes and RtSE at 6. Also, FBE - WAAAY too underpriced. I'd make it 4 if I were to allow it. Also, Dance of the Moonsilver Rabbit, if I'm reading it right, is noticeably better than any other persistant in existance at 1 mote more. - FrivYeti
- If you're talking about Flowing Body Evasion, the good news is that it's Supplemental, meaning you must actually devote an action to Dodging/Full Dodging, and that it only means that the action will be meaningful against a specific undodgeable attack. Sure, you can Combo in other stuff to make it effectively a perfect dodge against an undodgeable hit, but you've already spent at least 1 WP for that perfection (and have probably spent more than a Solar using HGD). It's an odd duck, and my gut is to change the 1m cost to 1W, but it's not hugely unbalanced. -- BillGarrett
