AbyssalMelee/Vaegrim
The beginings of my Abyssal defensive tree; one of the first charm sets I designed
Monolith Stance</b>

By freezing in a perfect pose, the deathknight using this charm becomes nigh unassailable. The exalt rolls as if he were parrying normally. All attacks against the deathknight are now treated as if they were being parried with the previous roll’s result. The effects of Monolith Stance end if the deathknight takes any physical action that would alter his pose (move, dodge, attack, etc).
Um. IF the Abyssal has frozen in perfect poise and such, can he still move or attack? I'm having a hard time seeing what exactly MS does. DS
- Not the charm creator, but from my reading, I would say he can't attack normally, but maybe through extra action charms? It looks like a more limited but comboable version of Bulwark Stance. More limited because if you roll badly on the parry, you don't get many autosux for the turn. -- ReallyBored
- My guess is that it's just flavor text. The fact that you can't split your dice pool does suggest that you still have a normal dice pool to split, and since the parry is reflexive, your dice pool is being spent on something else. - Quendalon
Okay, re-worked the charm a little so that the crunch matches the fluff. Being instant encourages the use of supplemental melee charms, so as to get the most bang-for-your-buck; but being suplemental, requires you to get initiative and then leave the charm up. - Vaegrim
If you could, then clarifying whether reflexive charms or scene-long persistants or other magically granted actions count for ending the stance would be much appreciated. I'd suggest not, but it's your charm after all.

- Without a good stunt ("With a malicious will of their own, my soulsteel throwing knives leap from their holster and fly towards my enemy!") then a physical action will disrupt the charm. The intent of Monolith Stance is a poor man's persistant defence. I'm planning to continue this into a mini-tree with success buyers and the like, thus building the potential for a persistant/perfect combo. - Vaegrim
