On the Death of Sad Ivory

Subject: Lilith vs. Ahn-Aru
rebeccaborgstrom - 10/07/2003 16:56:51

The Corpse wears his best clothes. He is calm. A butterfly nests in his hair. He holds the star that is Lilith's life in his right hand, and with his pale left hand caresses it.

"There are no suspicions," he whispers to her, and she sits with her feet under her, in the sanctum of the god.

"You are in my house," he tells her, "and thus it is the end of your life. Look---you reach for the prowess that is yours, and find it not; too long have you slumbered, too far is the First Age from your mind."

Lilith's star pulses. / I will survive, / it says, and the Lunar tears through the web of forgetfulness that shrouds her mind. Below, Lilith assumes the White Reaper Form.

The Corpse shakes his head, in minor irritation. "Old wounds pain your flesh. Confusion shrouds your mind. The memory of your lover is acid in the heart. No footing is stable for you. No move is perfection. You are in my house. Your life ends now."

/ I will survive, / says Lilith's star. Far below, Jorst comes to know the White Reaper.

The Corpse sighs, and snuffs the star's flames. "A true Lunar to the end," he says. "Does your fate even remember what it means to die?"

/ Perhaps not, / admits the star.

Below, Lilith shows Ahn-Aru the Storm of Unforgiven Blows.

But that's just it- the world fractures, because there are hundreds of obvious modifications to the 'fate existant' that did play out in some fashion. It's not one tree- it's a garden, growing from a one trunk of entwined stems.
