Yay for Aoshi! That was a blast (ha ha!) to play. Aoshi had the advantage in Artifacts and Hearthstones, but I don't think they made a significant difference overall. Most of the time Muzz forgot the mote discount, the ranged parry never applied. If Aoshi had to have just 4 points of Artifacts she wouldn't have had her Vajra and her Starmetal Reinforced Buffjacket, so one or the other would have had to have been down graded - probably the Armour, which might have made a difference when she was hit, but not much. We have trouble remembering to apply certain rules - Aoshi was Prone for an action but I don't recall her having any penalties to her action from 'rising from Prone', and throwing a javelin whilst hanging from the side of a boat should have been an action capped by her Athletics skill (at least!). Technically HSTO should have been trumped by HULKs initial parry, but it was such a cool visual, and does kinda make sense, that we let it continue. Do defense stunts apply for the whole tick?  [[nikink]]

Yeah I just cant remember the damn discount while in my MA form, oh well, practice will hopefully kick in at some point. I don't recall Aoshi taking a penalty for raising from prone and will probably be something to keep in mind considering HULK's combo, although for that particular action I don't think it would have made a difference with the action already a miss. The change into 4 dots of artifact would more then likely meant dropping the collar and swapping between the stones before the fight starts, Winds Hand aint really that great against an opponent like HULK.  Fun match though :) [[Muzz]]

Immortal Kombat - Match 4

Back to Immortal Kombat

Aoshi (Storm Crow Style)

vs

The Horror Under Lock and Key (Infernal Monster Style)

Match rules:

Competitors started 41 yards apart in the Nexus harbour. Thousands of ships, boats and Junks all via for space making it a crowded, undulating area.
Full character build (including all Artifacts) allowed.
To the death(ish).

Tick -1

The Horror Under Lock and Key (HULK) and Aoshi Join Battle!

HULK only gets 5 successes but Aoshi decides to trust in Secrets of Future Strife, but only gets 4.

Tick 0

HULK can clearly see his fearful opponent past the masts and decks of the boats between them, and activates Viridian Exoskeleton Legend.

(Speed 7 DV -1)

Tick 1

Sensing opportunity, Aoshi casts her Starmetal Vajra and activates her Combo, Heaven Splitting Moment! The Vajra strikes HULK like a blue bolt of lightning and he feels the wrath of Heaven within his twisted baleful soul.

(Speed 5 DV -1) (HULK takes 7L)

Tick 2

Tick 3

Tick 4

Tick 5

Tick 6

With the Vajra returned to her hand, Aoshi spins it around and shoots it at the Infernal again. It flies straight and true to pierce the brassy green plates that have formed over HULK's body.

(Speed 5 DV -1) (HULK takes 2L)

Tick 7

With a mighty roar of hate, the Slayer sprints towards the Sidereal girl activating Retribution Will Follow. Hapless sailors caught in the path of the rampage are trampled without thought or concern.

(Speed 3 DV -1 33 Yard Dash)

Tick 8

Tick 9

Tick 10

Sensing an easy victory the HULK activates his combo of SMASH!. The shallow bottomed barge beneath his feet gets almost capsized by the force of his leap like a blazing green sun. His Anima leaves a contrail of flames as he falls upon his victim with eyes of furnaced hatred.

Thinking quickly, Aoshi activates Gale-Riding Meditation and smiles as the powerful blow carries her like a leaf on the wind to the next boat.

The next two raging attacks from the HULK shatter first the deck and then the hull, leaving the boat sinking into the bay, with him in it.

(Speed 5 DV -1)

Tick 11

A quick step moves Aoshi to yet another boat, where she activates Storm Crow Form. Her Anima flares violet and is clearly visible even through multiple wooden decks and walls.

(Speed 5 DV -1)

Tick 12

Tick 13

Tick 14

Tick 15

Spotting the violet glow, HULK lets his rage carry him unhindered through the water and debris, through the thin wooden hull and up to the deck next to the Chosen of Endings. The boat starts listing as water enters.

(Speed 3 DV -1 33 yard Dash + Swim)

Tick 16

Almost caught by surprise, Aoshi seizes the chance to unleash Heaven-Splitting Moment upon the Infernal again. Her vajra strikes at HULK wreathed in blue lightning which sizzles and sparks around his brassy skin and into the water where it also kills a hapless sailor.

(Speed 5 DV -1) (HULK takes 3L)

Tick 17

Tick 18

Blazing green fire wreaths HULK again as he leaps straight up activates his SMASH! combo and lands upon the Sidereal girl with a thunderous flurry of punches. His off hand belts aside a terrified sailor who hadn't been able to flee in time and the blood of the dead man sizzles on his fist.

Aoshi pulls at the strands of Fate around her to activate Fateful Martial Arts Excellency. This allows her to knock aside the first incoming blow with a casual flick of her wrist. She reads the weave of Fate again for the second blow and manages again to redirect the force to where she is not. Alas, the next punch connects with her jaw and knocks her down. The Monster brings his fist down again with a joyous cry but she manages to twist away from the worst of the blow. Then as he grabs at her once again she just barely moves the monstrous hands away and scuttles back.

(Speed 5 DV -1) (Aoshi takes 3L total, and is Prone)

Tick 19

Tick 20

Tick 21

Aoshi picks herself up and moves to the side of the boat. Taking a breath she throws the vajra at her mortal enemy, but is still groggy from the assault and is off target. Fortunately the starmetal javelin returns of it's own accord.

(Speed 5 DV -2)

Tick 22

Tick 23

HULK raises both fists above his head and brings them down at Aoshi in a God-Smashing Blow, but the girl activate Ruffled Feathers Defense and manages to parry the attack.

HULK feels a memory of fear at the Sidereal's prowess, but his berserk anger quashes any weaker emotions and he just gets yet further enraged at her.

(Speed 5 DV -1)

Tick 24

Tick 25

Tick 26

Aoshi attempts to scare off the fiend with Ominous-Rumble Prana, but he is too quick for her and her attack misses.

(Speed 5 DV -1)

Tick 27

Tick 28

HULK cackles with mad glee and activates Joyous Cessation of Restraint to unleash a storm of blazing green blows. As he attacks his fists leave trails of green fire from his Anima to inadvertently spell 'Ashi' in Old Realm script.

The Chosen of Endings scoffs at this poor spelling and parries each attack while leaving her own Anima trail to spell out 'Incorrect fool! Aoshi. The Horror Under Lock and Key sucks at spelling; and fighting too!' in a violet ribbon of Old Realm traced by the paths of her hands and vajra.

The boat takes the punishment poorly and breaks up even faster, leaving the Exalts basically standing on flotsam and jetsam with wailing sailors floundering in the water around them.

(Speed 5 DV -1)

Tick 29

Tick 30

Tick 31

Aoshi jumps gracefully to the side of the next boat and activates Heaven-Shattering Thunderbolt Onslaught and throws her vajra.

HULK laughs at the crackle of lightning essence and casually intercepts the blast with a nearby struggling sailor! The man is killed, but the blast jumps to the Infernal and this time strikes him. Then it arcs across the water to another drowning man, killing him then arcing back to the furious green Exalt, injuring him again! Yet again the blast crackles onto a helpless man to send his souls to the underworld, then crackles back into HULK who again does not manage to avoid the blast. Once again it leaps from the Slayer to the last swimming sailor, killing him in agony, then strikes back into HULK.

HULK sparks momentarily and slumps into the water, lifeless.

(Speed 5 DV -1) (HULK takes 12L)

Tick 32

One hundred and twenty-seven dead fish bob to the surface of the water.

Tick 33

Aoshi Wins!!!

Postscript

The sound of a crowd going wild can be heard over the throbbing in Aoshi's head, then everything goes black. Saturn smiles enigmatically within the Jade Pleasure Dome and takes her place at the Games of Divinity.

Again HULK appears in a small metal cage. A bearded old man locks the cage with a tut-tut sound. He pulls a small pebble out of his purple robes and places it atop the cage in a small bucket causing the roof of the cage to click down, just a hair, under the added weight.
