Ukta Marish

The Ukta Marish mountain range is one of the South's largest and tallest mountain ranges. Within this expansive system lies untapped wealth, potential and power. In the First Age large numbers of explorers and scouts were dispatched to the mountain side, looking for both resources and untapped demesnes that can be utilized for power. Such attempts were not always successful and vast portions of the upper range remained perpetually unknown to those of the world.

Still, numerous demesnes of pretty much all types could be found in the mountain range. The most common was Earth which could be found anywhere. Second in number were the Fire demesnes which could be seen near the dozen or so volcanic nexuses. Rare were the Air (which were located near airy perches on top) and Water(located by springs and collected basins of water) demesnes. A number of Sidereal and Solar demesnes were also found. A few of these demesnes were capped with opulent and expansive manses that utilized the vast power of the First Age to great effect. With the Usurpation many of these manses fell into disuse as the knowledge of their location disappeared.

By the time of the Empresses disappearance in the much fallen Second Age only a third of the great expanse of the Ukta Marish mountains is known and occupied. The vast remaining portions are surrounded by mystery and shrouded in half-truths and forgotten legends. What is known is that the northwest portion of the range of mountains is home to a particular example of the Garda bird, On-Wings of Brass-And-Truth, whose mind even in his diseased state has the power to bring about imbuement to mortals he touches with his fiery touch. Also located deep within the lost hills of the Ukta Marish many legends say lies the Answer Stone, a highly powerful First Age scrying artifact.
