Leviathan: Master of the Seas

Description

For those who do not know, Leviathan is the reclusive Lunar who once commanded the navies of the Old Realm, and who sheltered the Lunars of the West while they reforged their Essences. Even now, he swims the seas of the Far West, destroying monsters and valuing his solitude.

But dark times are coming to the world, and Leviathan may be called up to fight once again. If this happens, what amazing powers will he unleash upon the world?

This character sheet is one suggestion.

Charms

Hahah. Leviathan knows every Charm in the Lunar corebook, even the bad ones, as well as scores of others. He has mastered at least one or two Celestial Martial Arts, most likely animal styles based on sea creatures or around clinching. He has constructed dozens of Combos to use his Charms best.
Some custom Charms that we should expect to see from Leviathan are as follows:

- An expansion on Towering Beast Form. This powerful permanent Charm gives Leviathan an extra True Form, a giant version of his orca totem. This version has the same physical stats as a normal orca, but with +10 Strength and +10 Stamina, and soaks lethal damage with its full Stamina normally (this bypasses usual Lunar soak rules).
- A perfect clinch initiator, which allows Leviathan to automatically succeed at any clinch attempt. This costs 5 motes of Essence to use, and is supplemental.
- A Supplemental Charm which allows Leviathan to spend 5 motes when initiating a clinch. If the attempt succeeds, Leviathan swallows the target and can act normally. Leviathan can be in no more simultaneous clinches than his Essence.
- A scene-length reflexive Charm, costing 6 motes and a Willpower, that allows Leviathan to dodge all attacks with his Dexterity score.
- A scene-length reflexive Charm, costing 8 motes, that reduces all damage dealt to Leviathan by one level after it is rolled.
- A scene-length reflexive Charm, costing 8 motes and a Willpower, that converts Dexterity dice to automatic successes on all Dodge attempts.
- An instant-duration Charm which, for 1 Willpower, allows Leviathan to immediately activate up to 3 Charms that target only himself, regardless of normal restrictions.
- An scene-length reflexive Charm, costing 10 motes and a Willpower, that adds Leviathan's Essence to all Physical Attributes. This does not count for the purposes of Charms that use a character's Attributes to determine effect, but does count for die-adder caps.

Deadly Beastman Form

Leviathan spends most of his time in orca form, but he does have a Deadly Beastman Transformation, and it is deadly.

Strength +14, Dexterity +9, Stamina +7 Gifts: Horrendous Might (+2 Strength), Terrible Beast Claws, Savage Moonsilver Talons, Resilience of Nature, Wound-Knitting Power, Rugged Hide, Impenetrable Beast-Armour, Enhanced Senses, Aspect of the Gillman, Lightning Speed, Incredible Toughness (this gift grants the Lunar +5 B/L soak, which ignores the normal cap). Statistics: Strength 24, Dexterity 18, Stamina 16
Base Initiative: 26
Soak: 17L/17B, Hardness 10
Dodge: 37
Attacks:
Savage Moonsilver Talons: Spd 28, Acc 31, Dam 32L, Def 29, Rate 4 Savage Moonsilver Bite: Spd 22, Acc 28, Dam 34L, Def 28, Rate 2 Clinch: Spd 26, Acc 31, Dam 24B (piercing), Def n/a, Rate 1

Equipment

None. Leviathan does not currently use equipment. If he went after his artifacts, he would reasonably have the following: Moonsilver articulated plate, moonsilver hearthstone bracers, and Islebreaker, a 5-pt Artifact moonsilver trident. Suggestions for Tidebreaker are welcome.

Comments

What do you think? Too strong? Too weak? I'm drawing a blank on Islebreaker right now, aside from it being really frickken' strong.

Good work. Your high-power characters are absolutely top-notch. A bit more emphasis on bite attacks would be nice, but other then that it’s damn near perfect.

I'll second the praise: good job. Regarding Islebreaker: I'd take a direlance, tweak the stats a little and use that for a base. Next I'd slap on three hearthstone settings. For stupids, I'd say it always does triple damage to inanimate objects (good for smashing boats or islands). On top of that I'd give it a mote (and possibley health level) driven power that would allow it to generate a tsunami (again, for smashing boats or islands). Oh, and I'd allow him to instantly and reflexively summon it to his hand for a mote, primarily for if he throws it at something, but good for the offchance he gets disarmed. -Ambisinister

I don't think he should have Essence 10... but... has he been around for 2,000+ years? If so, I guess its okay. I just don't like 10's. -- OhJames

Leviathan is quite possibly the absolute oldest Lunar in existance. If any Lunar deserves Essence 10, it's him. - FrivYeti

Hi there! This is great stuff. I'd like to see at least three combos though, one unarmed slapping, one clincher and one armed. Perhaps, you can do three similar ones as the one you did for the First and Forsaken Lion? Shouldn't he have an unblockable bite attack? I mean, he so big, how do you block it? Also, I get this fantastic version of "Orca Body Technique", where a very big killer whale easily dodges, impossibly fast and agile, only to let his opponent hit itself. Marvellous. -Clebo

Good thoughts. I'll think on them. - FrivYeti
Do you not think perhaps he would have access to some underwater manses or have constructed some on his own in his territory? -BogMod
He probably should, and as I'm starting up a campaign based in the west (at least to start with), If I decide to use Leviathan I'll be giving him underwater manses anyway. And as for huge mouth = unblockable bite attack, using a daiklaive to hold a giant mouth open is worthy of stunt dice in my book. - trithne

Ummm... he was the commander of the old realm's navy - with all the logistics that implies... Bureaucracy 3? - szilard

Hmm....I wonder what sort of Intelligence based charms you could get to help you with tactics and Bureaucracy... -BogMod
