Constructed by the followers of Glorious Bastion, led by the designs ofTheHoverpope/NicolauTorhemata, the Namesake is a palace in the center of the city. From a pentagonal castle a hundred feet to a side, five gleaming alabaster spires stretch skywards, each near indestructible. They stretch upwards a hundred feet and are topped with cupolas of gold and ruby. Stretching between the spires, hundreds of long topaz bridges barely feet wide twist about each other in massive spirals, coils, and jagged shapes; they collect and refract the daylight, such that during the day the city is overlain with golden trails of light that trace out a fivefold mandala of praise to the sun. The hearthstone chamber is a point at the center of the mass of bridges where five intersect; there is a golden sphere that contains both the hearthroom and the control room for the manse and the network of war manses attached to it. The bridges, as they take in the light and refract it, are burned away by its awesome power so deep in the south; they are maintained by the prayer of a dedicated priest and his acolytes, who walk the bridges leaving a trail from his thurible of ground topaz and copper that fuses itself into flaws in the structure in his passage.
The manse perhaps recognizes Nicolau's view that the worship of the sun should not be easy and perhaps has a pyrrhic aspect; and it perhaps recognizes that Bastion thinks it is a damn fantastic place to live.
