Kybernytos, the Pettiest Treason, Reflective Soul of the Salter of the Earth
TheHoverpope/Prodosia blows the horns of war, and Kybernytos does not answer. In the time when he was made, Kybernytos was made the standard bearer of the Salter of the Earth's army; but he took to the field for her only once. He watched the line of flesh under his banner charge, and the opposing army charge, and the havoc that they wrought on each other until none stood, and he was disgusted. He saw that the combat of two armies is a waste of resources, one that could better be used to enrich himself, and so he lay down his banner and never took to the field again.
Unlike so many demons of the second circle, all citizens of Malfeas and yet with their own intrigues and interests, Kybernytos views as his greatest goal the augmentation of his command in the demon city. He recruits troops from among demons of the first circle with promises of power, bribing them with endowments originally meant to aid Prodosia's cause. He gains wealth by bartering in arms that originally he was meant to bear himself on the front lines of battle. He laughs that so many of his brothers are so tangled in their goals and ambitions that they ignore their domains, the better that he may seize them. A petty tyrant,
Kybernytos appears the demon city as a beautiful, laughing man in gleaming armor, carrying a halberd trailing a banner with nothing on it but his name. He does not travel except on a golden sedan carried by several of his followers. His chair and armor tarnish in the demon city's vitriolic fog as he walks, and so his highest ranking vizier is given the title of Most Triumphant Conservator of Our Eminent Master's Glories, and his duty is to always polish the decay from the metal. His minions love him for their grandiloquent titles and for the attention that he showers upon them, considering this the greatest gift that a demon of his stature could render them. Other second circle demons consider him an embarassment when they think of him at all, except for Octavian. That demon considers Kybernytos a mortal enemy, as they both strive for control of the demon city; Octavian feels that were he not summoned and bound so often, he would have a much larger domain. When in creation, Octavian spreads the name of his rival among sorcerors hoping that they will summon him, but most have heard word of his competence and decline the offer.
