The kibitzing about MartialArts/AmberCommentsArchive/AmberHawkInFlamesStyle got long, so I put it here.
Hmm... no Form Charms? Only usable with other styles after you've learned the entire style? Odd.\\ Drifting down with the failsafe for Effortless Soaring Eagle Mode must potentially be pretty fast, given that the user can fly pretty high during a single scene. Perhaps just have the character drift down at X yards/turn?\\ Soul Refining Strike has an unusual special effect, given its description. Is everyone impure? Are the corrupt more or less prone to damage? If you're going to tie this to impurity, perhaps it should have some bearing on the target's Virtues.\\ Cinnamon {Caste} Pyre is a cool name. I trust that there will be more info included in a future draft to indicate just what the anima flux does. :) - Quendalon
Formless still, but no longer fragile.
I'll figure out ESEM and post an edit presently.
Soul Refining Strike assumes that purity is equal to Essence, and the Exalt can only impose as much purity as he has.
I'm still working on the flux effects for Cinnamon {Caste} Pyre, but I've just now posted the preliminaries. - willows
I like the style (makes me embaressed I still haven't finished my own.) and the imagery is cool, and extremely potent. (Though let me not even bring up that I have this horrible idea of Ranma 1/2, especially when I read Rivalry of Immortals.)
One thing though. I like Cinnamon {Caste} Pyre, but some of the Solar Pyres, especially the Dawn don't ring as quite right. I get the feeling it's a flaring and extremely potent aspect of their anima. I guess I see Solars as perhaps causing hesitation and awe at their nature (increasing difficulty but not making the person look bad, just distracted), though it looks a lot like something Dusk-like. Nothing big, just a gut feeling, but I really do love the style. - haren
Essentially, this is what I think: In this case, elegance of mechanics was a far superior solution to "making them taste right", and I wanted it to be hard to attack the Cinnamon Dawn Pyre. I was certainly not going to apply individual difficulty modifiers, and this effect has the nice subsidiary effect of disabling many Exalted Charms. "A lot" is two words. And thanks! - willows
The thing which concerns me about Cinnamon Pyre is that cinnamon isn't even close to being amber-colored.\\ _Ikselam
Amber comes in many shades, and the darkest ambers aren't far off from cinnamon. Plus, cinnamon tastes good and smells neat. I'd allow it. - Quendalon
Even the darkest amber has sort of a golden color. Cinnamon doesn't. This is vastly important to me, and I demand that the Charm's name be changed!\\ _Ikselam

Golden Friends of P'êng: When and where does the martial artist reappear after using this technique?\\ Luminous Reincarnation Strike: What happens if you use this against someone with Egg-from-Ashes Technique; who wins? - Quendalon
Whoa. Controversy.
Cinnamon Pyre's about the fragrance, not the colour; just like amber smells like pine when you burn it, Cinnamon smells like... cinnamon.
Hm. I should have specified both of these... the Charms are edited to reflect this. - willows
Sealab tangent aside, I like the Style -- two quick questions (I may have more, but I'm burning valuable time as it is): firstly, can you activate more than one Pyre at once? My first reaction would be to say no, but it's not explicitly explicit, and they're purchased as seperate Charms. Secondly, is there a sutra-discount equivilent for so-inclined Sidereals? _Jabberwocky
I am considering this: "The interaction of two Pyres creates the Amber Hawk in Flames Form; like any other Form, this is incompatible with other Martial Arts Form Charms, and will end if a different Form is activated. It is possible to activate a third Pyre, but this will automatically end one of the previous Pyres." I don't really want there to be sutras, because then I have to write them, but assume you can write a Student's Sutra of Immolation when you have two Pyres, and the Elder Sutra when you have Relentless Soul-Fire Crucible. - willows
