Hide of the Cunning Hunter
Cost: 1 mote Duration: One day Type: Simple Min. Manipulation: 1 Min. Essence: 1 Prereqs: None
Turns the Lunar's tattoos invisible. The effects dissipate if the Lunar's anima banner exceeds the 4-7 mote level of anima display.
CrownedSun's Revision
This charm has a duration of Instant, and conceals the Lunar's tattoos until he reaches 8+ essence. This version of the charm requires no commited Essence, and lets a Lunar much more freely interact with non-Lunars. While active, the character also uses the "Shapechanged" line to determine the difficulty for others to see her Tell regardless of his actual form. See Exalted: Lunars, Page 123.
Notes: This makes the charm a lot easier to use, and a lot less work, and also explains a little why this charm and the one linked after it have anything to do with one another by hiding the tell a little (pretty much +2 difficulty to spot). All in all, I think these changes are both moderate and needed.
Blauqe's Version
Just make the duration Indefinate, isntead of One Day. I really don't think its too much of needing to be changed in all honesty.

This is actually a much more consistent way to work what is effectively just another shapeshifting Charm. - SMK
I liked my formatting better :P Oh, and thanks SMK; glad you think so! -- CrownedSun
Just not something I think needs to be fixed. -Fifth
I don't htink it needs too much change either. I think the duration should be longer for simplicity relaly. Stuff. Blauqe
My reasonings are as follows:
- One, this charm is pretty important for all Lunars. If you intend to interact with civilization /at all/, you need this charm, and you also need it if you want the option of interacting with Barbarians without giving away your nature -- really, with ANYONE without giving away your nature. This charm is so basic that I'm surprised that it's not a basic anima power. The Lunars can make their tattoos glow brightly for a mote; you'd think they'd be able to suppress them automatically too, and since the power is free I'd not complain.
- Two, the power is NOT free. It costs 15xp (12 if your a Changing Moon). You get the 'option' of commiting 1 mote of essence for a whole day, so that you don't have any tattoos -- something that is, I would note, better suited to a basic Lunar anima ability. This charm doesn't get as much attention as Body Weapon Technique or Steel Paw Style, but it's still one of the worst charms in the book in terms of cost effectiveness. It's just that the ability is useful, and necessary, so people are willing to ignore how damned weak it is for it's cost.
Thus, my suggested change: first, we get rid of the perpetual commited mote. The charm is of instant duration, and makes the Lunar's tattoos invisible until he goes up the Anima chart. That's useful, without being overpowering, and really has the same effect as the one in the book save that it doesn't tie up one mote. You can always reflexively end the charm after all. I also added the tell-bit for two reasons. One, it's a nifty power and explains why this charm is in the tree with Masking. Second, it makes the charm more worth it's XP cost.

I like CrownedSun's version, but I think doing it that way should cost 3m1w. - David.
