Anyway, here's the thought. The Yozi are incredibly powerful, ancient beings. They also are like no other. Their "children" are demons that tend to represent aspects of themselves. Each is a symbol of a part of that Yozi. And each Yozi has a well defined sort of domain. They are the Yozi of one particular area (admittedly a huge area, like Life, but still well defined). So in a way, they are a living symbol of those things, not quite a personification, but a form of reality where the symbol becomes the thing rather than just being a symbol for it. How Yozis and Symbolic Reality may be linked.

This idea was first prompted by the InterpretingScriptures discussion/theory, so it's probably a good idea to stop by there. ^_^
It's like the word space being space, and by rewriting it, you could change the nature of it.
Now, here's where it starts getting really strange. Yu Shan was a place created for the Yozi and their demons by the Yozi. The nature of everything in the city could have been entirely different from before and during the Primordial War compared to afterwards. In particular, I was thinking of the Loom of Fate. Since the Gods didn't get to live there, they wouldn't have known if the Loom had changed after the war, or during it.
What if the Yozi weren't always so well defined? What if there was another reason for Creation and the Loom existing?
If the scriptures are talking about different Yozi, that could lead to some very strange things. Maybe as a symbol of each Yozi, scriptures are in a very real way those same Yozi. What I'm theorizing is this: The Yozi could have been sort of slightly fused seperate parts of one being, but when they created the Loom, they wrote the scritures. In writing them, each part of this "super-Yozi" was defined and became it's own seperate part. Now, this doesn't have to be exactly true for the next part, but I had to give the possibilty.
Now, this means that it's possible that the scriptures didn't just define the Yozi in the past, but continued to define their existance. The scriptures of the Malfeans would have changed on their deaths. But, it's also possible that you could alter the nature of the Malfeans and Yozi by somehow rewriting the scripture that refered to the one you want to target. Now, there's a frightening thought.
As a side note, that means that prayer strips are likely tapping into the power and nature of each Primordial. This could mean that they are able to watch Creation through an active prayer strip based on their scripture, or even use it as a way to reach and affect Creation in some manner.
Update: After thinking about it, I was realizing that the Scripture could represent a different kind of soul compared to the third circle demons. Or maybe it is a filter layer between the demons and the Yozi themself... a sort of defining or polarizing lens that shows how those demons exist. Maybe you could alter just aspects of the Yozi.

This would explain why every scripture talks about something different, but they're always a Maiden. - w
By rewriting the scriptures, would that change the Yozi enough so it would lose the name it swore to never enter Creation again on? If so, that would make an Infernal Siddy much more dangerous if we could figure out how to rewrite the Scriptures, or erase them entirely to reform the "super-Yozi". -- Mnemosynis
My inclination is yes, a Yozi could name and free itself using this method. Erasing the Scruptures entirely might be a bigger undertaking, though. Incidentally I also have some ideas on how one would be able to edit a Scripture...willows
A thought we had come up with while talking to Balthasar was even more interesting. They never did quite say "how" the Yozi were bound, and this would seem to be a working theory on how to do it. Just edit the scriptures so they say (in their crazy way), "Oh yeah, and this Yozi isn't here anymore, they're some Elsewhere." ^_^ - haren
