Enlightened
It is an age of brilliance, of darkness, of adventure and glory. The world teems with spirits and gods, hiding unseen behind the workings of Creation. Masters train their pupils, creating schools that form rivalries and stretch their influence across vast swathes of land. The Scarlet Dynasty rules the Blessed Isle, sending its influence radiating across the world. Immaculate monks vie with demon mages, thaumaturges work alongside savants, and the Loom of Fate twists to the will of heroes.
This is the world in which you live.
This is the world of the Enlightened.
What You Need
In order to use the Enlightened setting, Storytellers will need access to the Exalted Second Edition core manual. This, technically, is the only required sourcebook for this setting. However, the following other books may also prove useful:
- Oedanol's Codex: Anyone wishing to play a thaumaturge will find that this setting does not attempt to duplicate any rituals found in that book, making it very useful.
- Exalted Player's Guide: As with Oedanol's Codex, none of the Merits or Flaws found in the Player's Guide will be repeated in the Merits and Flaws section.

Supplementary Material
Enlightened, obviously, draws primarily from Exalted, but certain other sources are recommend to read, study, or just glance over to get a feel for how the setting is supposed to work. A lot of them are listed inspirations for Exalted, but they are particularly appropriate here.
- Jade Empire: One of the primary sources of inspiration for Enlightened, this video game contains mythic gods, martial arts, savants, and thaumaturges. And it's a great game, too.
- Girl Genius: While it deals almost exclusively with mad science, this comic remains an excellent inspiration for how Savants operate, if there were only a few more of them (and they had fewer natural enemies).
