Experience Charts

For the most part, Enlightened uses the experience charts listed in Exalted Second Edition. However, the following traits either supersede or replace the normal costs listed in the Second Edition corebook:

|| New Trait || Experience Cost || Training Time || || Charm || 10 || None* || || Degree || 6 || Two Weeks || || Knack || 10 || Special || || Understanding || 10 || One Week || || Technique || 10 || One Week* || || Procedure || 2 || One Day* || || Essence || Current Rating x7 || Special || || Kismet || Current Rating x7 || Special ||

Favoured Abilities have a training time of One Day, regardless of a character's rating in them.

Tutors: Unlike the Exalted Second Edition corebook, Enlightened does not assume the presence of tutors. Instead, a tutor halves the required training time to learn any trait. This does not apply to training times for Techniques, which assume the presence of a tutor, Procedures, whose learning time varies drastically without a tutor, or Charms, which cannot be learned without a benefactor.

Stunts: A character may stunt training time. A one-die stunt reduces training time to 3/4 of normal. A two-die stunt reduces training time to 1/2 of normal. A three-die stunt reduces training time to 1/4 of normal. This reduction applies after the reduction for having a tutor, and stacks fully with it.

In addition, a character who wishes to raise her Essence past 3 must either spend a full year in meditative training or else fulfill a Motivation for every dot of Essence she wishes to gain. In order to reach Essence 6, a character must also have lived for at least 100 years.

A character who wishes to raise Kismet past 3 must fulfill a Motivation for every dot of Kismet that she wishes to gain. Kismet cannot be gained through training.

Finally, note the extensive special rules in the Martial Arts section for attempting to develop Martial Arts Techniques without a tutor. Similar rules exist in the Thaumaturgy section for developing Protocols without a tutor.
