The Faceless Doctor in Oblivion's Madness
Description: The Faceless Doctor in Oblivion's Madness is an incredibly tall figure. He easily stands over 10 feet of height, and thus dwarves even the tallest mortal men. His body is, however, very, very thin. His limbs are quite long, and sometimes appear to grow more joins. It is certain that he can twist his body almost in every way a human could possibly do so, and then some more. Despite his height, the Doctor tends to walk either hunched or almost crouching. More disturbingly, he sometimes crawls like an insect as well.
His name derives from the fact that he shows his real face to nobody; keeping it hidden behind a mask that covers his entire face, save for one hole where he can presumably peek out of. Nobody has ever seen his face under that mask, not even his fellow Deathlords. Attempts to remove the mask just reveal another mask under that one, and another, and another...
The Doctor usually dresses like one would expect a doctor to (or a butcher, according to some). He never wears armor nor gloves with him, and his clothes are usually impeccable. He carries with him, at all times, a huge scalpel, easily as tall as he is. He calls it The Impeccable Slicer, but it has held numerous names in the past as the doctor changes his mind.
As far as the other Deathlords are concerned, The Faceless Doctor is completely and utterly insane. And they are quite correct. The Doctor is absolutely, irrevocably mad. The way his body can contort is thanks to his own experimentation on himself. Nobody is quite sure on whether he delights in killing people or in curing them (and in some cases "making them better"), but he giggles disturbingly whenever he does anything of the sort.
And yet, under all that madness, hides an incredible genius. A former Twilight, The Doctor once dedicated his life to medicine and the workings of the body. He was killed when his experiments began to get a little out of hand, and he was brought down in his own manse. He doesn't remember much of this, really. He -does- remember that he was a great doctor, and that he healed people, and made them better... and sometimes he remembers that he killed people in a mad frenzy and he goes quietly more insane for a while. The Doctor is firmly convinced that Creation is sick, terminally, unfortunately. So it'll be better to destroy everything and begin all over.
Among the dead and the living alike, in the southwest, where he operates, it is well known that the Doctor can cure anything and repair any damage to a body. However, he's quite crazy and may kill people as soon as curing them. He might even change them... transforming their bodies at his whim (altering physical stats and appearance), or just making them part of some necrotic monstrosity. However, people desperate enough still go to him and hope he's in one of his good moods...
The Clinic of Hope's Last Breath
The Faceless Doctor's citadel is not a foreboding and imposing building, like most of his counterpart's are. At best, it's kinda creepy, much like a haunted mansion or castle. It's also much larger than it appears.
On the top floors is the clinic part of the building. Here, the Doctor receives and treats (or kills) patients at his pleasure. His mood varies wildly, but he only rarely seems to kill anybody on -purpose-. The death of an unfortunate patient seems to occur more often when the Doctor decides that the entire ribcage isn't really necessary. However, he can truly work miracles in closing wounds, attaching limbs, and curing all kinds of ailments, which is why people still go to him. Moreover, he -never- turns down a patient.
The Clinic is actually fairly devoid of undead. A few ghosts roam here and there, doing the Doctor's and his servants requests. Zombies are almost nonexistent except for bodies for specters... and spare parts.
The true horrors lurk in the underground, beneath the mansion. Here, the Doctor conducts most of his experiments. It is almost unknown, but The Faceless Doctor is the greatest creator of necrotic constructions in the entire underworld. All kinds of constructions, huge or small, all terrible, are kept in rooms and pits. Those that must eat are fed with animals and unlucky humans. Many of these monstrosities are useless, but plenty of them are powerful in their own right. These are one of the tools that the Doctor plans on using to help creation die faster... just not yet.
The Infallible Chopper
The Magnificent Cutter (what? Did I say that it was called The Impeccable Slicer? You speak madness. And what is this Infallible Chopper you speak of?) appears to the eye as nothing more than a huge, black scalpel. It looks rather unwieldy, like a huge glaive of sorts. It is, however, far, far more deadly.
The Doctor can control his weapon with millimetric precision. What's more, no armor can hold it back... meaning that all damage dealt by the weapon is unsoakable. The Doctor can use it to slice off limbs as if they were made of paper, and it cleaves through bone and metal and the Magical Materials (to a point) alike. Indeed, few things can stop it. Trying to parry it with a normal weapon is nearly useless.
The Faceless Doctor uses his gigantic scalpel as more than a weapon though. It's also his operation tool of choice.
The Good Ol' Doctor's Plans
Come ask why the Malfeans don't punish The Faceless Doctor for his transgression of healing living people. This is because the Doctor has grand, grand plans and good ideas.
See, the Doctor doesn't need to actively work for the death of Creation. It is inevitable, the land is sick and dying, and so it’s only a matter of time. However, he so hates to see the land suffer, so he -does- wish to speed up the process a bit.
Lately, he has begun to wonder: if it's possible to corrupt the Essence of the Solars... how about of the rest of the Exalted? Sadly, he has yet to get his hands on a Lunar or a Sidereal, so Dragon-blooded have to do. Several Dynasts have vanished without a word lately, this is because the Doctor has captured them and studied them laboriously (a process which left the Dynasts quite dead). This has drawn a few conclusions:
Dragon Blooded are linked to the five elements in Creation: Air, Earth, Fire, Water, and Wood. The Underworld has the elements of Prayer, Jade, Pyre Flame, Blood, and Bone. He has made some relations of the elements between themselves. Pyre Flame and Fire are basically the same, and Blood shares some qualities of Water. Prayer he has lumped with Air due to its intangible nature. This leaves Jade and Bone, which he's guessing correspond to Earth and Wood, but more tests are necessary.
Sadly, those Dragon-Blooded he has captured don't work well as experimenting fodder. Too old and too frail for the most part. What he -needed- was to study the event from up close, and... he got his chance. A boy, carrying his wounded father to the Doctor's home, Exalted in from of the Deathlord's very eyes. Incredibly excited, the Doctor asked the boy if he would be willing to help him from there on as payment for saving his father's life. The young man, somewhat addled from his Exaltation and happy that his father was all right, agreed.
As the boy was a Fire Aspect, The Faceless Doctor called him Son of the Pyre Flame, telling him to leave his old name behind. Then, being veeery careful with his new experiment, the Doctor has begun to both teach and fill the young man with the essence of Death. Dragon-blood's sparks are different from Celestial sparks, especially the entire "carried in the blood" thing, so he intends to make the boy a patriarch of his own Dragon-blood family... a family tainted with Death.
Some things look promising. Son of the Pyre Flame has begun to exhibit the ability to manifest said element instead of Fire, but they are still weak at best. The Doctor is in no hurry... he has all the time in the world. For now, he has told his servants to be on the lookout for more recently Exalted Dragon-blooded. If they can get him children of the other four aspects, the better. They are -not- to be harmed in any fashion.
Doubtlessly, he would be less kind with any Lunar or Sidereal he got his hands on. They -are- Celestial Exalted after all. And thus less likely to go "squish".
Also, he's not saying anything to the other Deathlords. Many of them would be less than happy about seeing underworld-aspected Dragon-blooded. He couldn't care -less- of what they said, but with Lion's army so close... better safe than sorry. He suspects his Malfean masters will approve of his plan once he brings them solid results.
The Doctor's Servants
The Doctor actually keeps a good number of Abyssal Exalted under his service. -All- of them are taught at least the basics of medicine (meaning that all his servants have at least 1 dot in Medicine). Many of them wander about the South and West. A few of them, mostly the Moonshadow, remain behind and help the Doctor with his experiments.
Viper and Dark Seas , a beautiful female Day caste, is currently making her way back to the Doctor's citadel with her prize: a young, confused, and recently Exalted Water aspect she charmed in the Hundred Kingdoms. She expects to be greatly rewarded for this, although her distaste for Dragon-blooded is notable.
Son of Pyre Flame is a young Dragon-Blooded still, and the Faceless Doctor is doing his damnest to corrupt his spark. Frighteningly enough, it seems to be working. The boy's demeanor has been slowly shifting from cheerful and somewhat temperamental to quiet and intense. His reddish hair and eyes seem to be getting a pale green tint to them as well...
