Gothic Lolita Cavalier Mastery

This Charm represents the incredible knowledge of the equestrian arts a Gothic Lolita has mastered. This Charm permanently enhances the Exalt’s capabilities with one of the following techniques:

  • Eye of the Horsewoman: The Lolita can spend one mote reflexively when evaluating a mount and perfectly recognize its strengths and weaknesses.
  • Might of the Warlord: The Gothic Lolita can add her Ride score as a bonus to Presence rolls while on her mount on a 1-die-per-mote basis.
  • No Hay but Moe: The Loli can spend one mote reflexively and touch a mount to sustain it for two hours. Effort during that time does not exhaust the creature, and it does not suffer random incidents such as thrown shoes or injured hooves.
  • Riding the Wind: The Gothic Lolita can reflexively spend 1 mote to stop herself from falling off a mount. She can even activate this effect when she’s inactive. In addition, as a permanent benefit, the character will not fall from the mount simply from being inactive during ordinary travel.
  • Subtle Caress of Unexpected Warmth: With a soft caress of the beast’s hair and the reflexive expenditure of 3 motes of Moe, the Lolita can prevent a mount from panicking. The mount will not panic for the remainder of the scene.

Characters with this Charm can purchase additional techniques from this list for two experience points or one bonus point. Using these abilities does not count as Charm invocation.

Angsty Mount Technique

Mounts owned by Gothic Lolitas are mounts who have witnessed angst to levels uncommon to most animals. Eventually, the angst gets to them, and they start sharing the Lolita’s mentality. This Charm lets a character use her Re-Useless Charms to assist a loyal animal she is riding rather than herself. This counts as the character using the Charm, but adds one mote to the invocation cost. Because this counts as the character using the Charm, it must abide by all of the normal limitations on Charm invocation. If the character has a self-invoking Charm, such as the Awareness Charm Gothic Lolita Danger Sense, then it invokes to protect her mount as well.

Perfect Gothic Steed

The Gothic Lolita and her steed are now one in mind and spirit. This Charm enhances the Angsty Mount Technique. The character can use Subtle/Mental Charms to aid the mount’s actions, adding two motes to their cost. The character cannot do so when these Charms are part of a Combo that includes a Speech Charm.

Might of the Lady Paladin

The simple advantages of height and mobility enjoyed by a mounted swordsman wreak havoc on the battlefield. Gothic Lolita cavalry are even more terrifying, translating their mounts’ great speed and strength into carnage in the opposing ranks. For the remainder of the scene, the Gothic Lolita adds her Ride skill in extra damage dice to all hand-to-hand attacks.

Clutch the Mount's Soul

Many Gothic Lolitas don’t bother learning how to properly ride a mount. They just use their powerful angst to break the mount’s will and turn it into a walking husk, devoid of free will. For every mote spent, the targeted animal has its Control Rating reduced by one point. If this reduces the steed’s Control Rating to zero, it obeys unhesitatingly and will even jump to its death if so directed. Mounts tamed with this Charm only obey the Gothic Lolita. All other characters must contend with the beast’s normal Control Rating. Clutch the Mount’s Soul only affects animals trained for riding. Characters cannot jump on the back of a five-headed hydra and expect compliance.

Kill the Wild Spirit

  • Cost: 10 motes, 1 Willpower

  • Prerequisite Charms: Clutch the Mount's Soul

Like Clutch the Mount’s Soul, this Charm breaks a steed’s will and reduces the creature to mindless submission. Unlike the previous Charm, however, the effects of Kill the Wild Spirit are permanent. The Gothic Lolita rolls Strength/Manipulation (whichever she prefers) + Ride, against a difficulty of the animal’s Control Rating. Each success permanently reduces the mount’s Control Rating by one point, to a minimum score of one. If the Gothic Lolita’s player actually rolls enough successes to reduce a Control Rating to zero, the beast gains immunity to terror when ridden by the Exalt. This Charm utterly weakens the mount’s spirit, so the mount’s new Control Rating applies to all riders. Kill the Wild Spirit may affect any animal that can possibly be trained to accept a rider. The character must have a permanent Moe of 3 or higher to “train” exotic or deadly animals, however.

Underworld Exploration Riding Technique

Traveling through the Underworld is a dangerous ordeal, and it allows no rest. With this Charm, the Gothic Lolita does not have to worry about her mount getting tired……to a certain point. The Charm lasts until the Gothic Lolita dismounts or a number of days have passed equal to the Gothic Lolita’s Ride score. Enchanted steeds have boundless energy and never need to stop for food or water. It receives one automatic success on all rolls to keep its footing or successfully jump and obstacle. With this Charm, the mounted character can reliably cover (the mount’s Stamina x 10) miles per hour. However, the tainted Moe powering this Charm and sustaining the beast slowly eats at the animal’s life energy. For every day or fraction thereof that the Charm is maintained, the mount suffers one level of unsoakable lethal damage. This damage is deferred until the Charm ends. After a steed suffers injury from this Charm, it cannot be safely re-enchanted with this Charm until it fully heals its wounds. Doing otherwise allows the animal to act at full strength again, but immediately kills the mount when the forced march ends.

Moe Horseshoes Method

This Charm permanently enhances the Charm Underworld Exploration Riding Technique, granting the enchanted mount supreme swiftness and fleetness of hooves. The mount can now reliably travel ([the mount’s Stamina + the Lolita’s Moe] x 10) miles per hour.

Reality Revision: Ride of the Black Valkyrie

  • Cost: 20 motes, 2 Willpower
  • Duration: One scene

  • Prerequisite Charms: Moe Horseshoes Method, Birth of the Black Pegasus

The Gothic Lolita is surrounded by an orb of darkness large enough to hide her from view, and then grows five times this size. Then, the globe explodes and the Gothic Lolita bursts out on the back of a badass-looking Demon Sleipnir, an improved version of the Demon Stallion. The Lolita’s outfit has also changed to full-body armor the eerie gleaming color of soulsteel. Both her helmet and gauntlet are shaped like a dragon’s head. For the remainder of the scene, the Gothic Lolita gains the following benefits.

  • Soul of the Black Valkyrie: Her armor and weapons are treated as soulsteel weapons, if they weren’t so already. If they were, she adds her Valor to the amount of motes drained (in the case of weapons) and soaks (armor). In addition, all her equipment is impervious to damage: it just cannot be destroyed by any means for the duration of the Charm.
  • Black Aegis of the Unjust: The Gothic Lolita gets two free uses of a perfect protection Charm per turn: one for her, one for her mount. Each perfect defense is immediately followed by a hand-to-hand or Thrown counterattack with whatever ability the Lolita prefers. The perfect defense Charm available depends on which ability the Lolita has at 5 dots: Melee, Thrown, Resistance or Dodge. If she has more than one of these abilities at 5+ dots, she gets to choose which perfect defense she has at her disposal every turn.
  • Mighty Ride of the Black Paladin: All rolls against the Lolita are at a dice pool penalty of her Charisma + Presence or her Moe, whichever is higher.
  • Needless to say, the Demon Sleipnir is perfectly obedient and loyal. The Gothic Lolita doesn’t have to make Ride rolls for any reason concerning her mount (she can still be knocked down her steed).

Moe Breath: The Demon Sleipnir can shoot a blast of pure Moe from as far as 500 yards away. Each shot costs the Gothic Lolita 5 motes of Moe.

Stars of the Fallen World: The Demon Sleipnir moves can move up to 25 yards in a Move action and twice that amount in a Dash action. By spending 2 motes, the Gothic Lolita can increase the Demon Sleipnir speed to an astounding 120 yards in a Move action (twice that amount in a Sprint action). The Gothic Lolita cannot invoke any other of the Sleipnir’s powers while the steed is moving at this increased speed.

Black Wings Swallow the World: The feathers of Demon Sleipnir’s wings are made of a unique lattice of soulsteel, organic matter and who-knows-what-else the NeverCute put into that thing. The point is, the Sleipnir can choose to spend an entire turn perfectly still, with its wings unfolded to their greatest magnificence, as they very slowly drain the Moe of the world. Each turn in this stance gives the Sleipnir’s rider 5 motes of Moe, but the Gothic Lolita cannot use any of the Sleipnir’s other powers while this one is active, except for the protection granted to the horse by her Black Aegis of the Unjust.

Core of Eternity: This is probably the mightiest weapon ever available to one of the Exalted. It is the instrument of the NeverCute’s will, their version of eternity: a realm of boring nothingness. This weapon turns everything to nothing. To invoke it, the Lolita must spend ALL her remaining Moe (at least 30 motes). The Moe is slowly transferred from the Lolita’s body to the Sleipnir; a process that takes 3 turns. During this time, the Sleipnir can take no other actions except to hover in place, its opened muzzle focusing the Lolita’s Moe in darkness greater than the very concept of darkness itself. The Lolita cannot take any actions save for the use of Re-Useless defensive Charms and the Black Aegis of the Unjust. Aborting the shot after charging has begun wastes all the motes spent and inflicts five levels of unsoakable aggravated damage to the Sleipnir.

Once the charging process is complete, the Core of Eternity may be fired at any time as an attack. Until it fires, however, the Sleipnir remains unable to do anything else except hover, aim and use Black Wings Swallow the World (motes acquired in this way can be transferred to the Core of Eternity on a subsequent turn of charging or added to the Lolita’s Moe pools as normal). All objects and beings within 25 yards of the target take levels of unsoakable lethal damage equal to the number of motes spent on the Core of Eternity. Only perfect defenses can protect against the incomparable power of the Core of Eternity. The Core of Eternity affects material and immaterial objects alike; spirits slain by its awesome power are obliterated and do not reform.

Everything material and immaterial within 500 yards of the inner radius (from zero to twenty-five yards) suffer half the levels of damage taken by those in the inner radius from the all-consuming shockwave of absolute zero coldness and Moe erupting outward from the blast radius (note that this might reach as far as the Gothic Lolita’s position. Black Aegis of the Unjust is highly recommended for such a case). Subtract the soak ratings of every object caught in the blast from this value to determine the total damage suffered. The shockwave cannot be dodged (unless the dodge somehow can move the character outside the blast radius), and it cannot be parried without the use of Charms (not that anyone would try, anyway). If parried with the aid of magic, add the number of successes in the defense roll to the target’s soak for the purpose of reducing the total damage.

Core of Eternity can only be used once per use of this Charm.

Painful Spirit Spurs

Gothic Lolitas can make mystical bonds with their mounts just like Bishonen do. Unfortunately for the mount involved, such bond is so strong it becomes painful. Having bonded to a steed, the Gothic Lolita can summon it from great distances. The steed feels the terrible bite of phantom spurs digging harshly into its flanks and a terrible heartache unless it moves at best possible speed towards the Lolita. The Gothic Lolita must have clearly extended dominance over the animal at least once before forging a bond with it. Such dominance can have been achieved through physical or mystical means. While animals under the influence of this Charm never get distracted or become lost, they cannot circumvent complex obstacles any better than normal. If the creature can’t make it to the Lolita’s side for any reason, the Lolita will become aware of it. The compulsion and pain inflicted by this Charm’s effect remain in force until the animal reaches its mistress. If it is impeded to reach her side, it will have to bear with it.

Spectral Demon Stallion

  • Cost: 10 motes, 1 Willpower
  • Duration: One day
  • Type: Speech
  • Minimum Ride: 5
  • Minimum Moe: 3
  • Prerequisite Charms: Painful Spirit Spurs

With this Charm, a Gothic Lolita may summon a demon horse shaped with the souls of long-dead warhorses and the powers of the NeverCute. Materializing from a cloud of dusky, sulfur-stinking smoke, the beast has the appearance of a pure black stallion with eyes like smoldering coals, a mane and a tail of blue flames and sharp teeth no horse alive should have. The demon stallion is utterly tireless and fearless, needs no food or drink (but enjoys the taste of Magical Girl flesh and blood and eats Little Ponies for breakfast) and it has a Control Rating of 2. If a character uses this Charm again before its duration expires, a new horse appears, and the old one dissolves with a terrifying whinny.

Birth of the Black Pegasus

Just like the Medusa from Greek mythology gave birth to the beautiful Pegasus from her blood (…after her head was chopped off……), the Gothic Lolita gifts her trusted steed with the ability to fly by giving it an offering of her own blood. As soon as the steed ingests the blood and the Lolita pays the Moe and Willpower cost, the animal changes to a perfect pitch black. This Charm gives the steed a pair of gorgeous black wings, granting it the ability to fly, as well as the confidence to do so. It can run on water, clouds or even the air itself with a Move or Dash action, spending two yards of movement to ascend one yard. The Gothic Lolita can sacrifice an additional health level and three experience points to make the wings permanent.

Negate the Willpower cost of this Charm when used upon a horse summoned with Spectral Demon Stallion. The wings cannot be made permanent on the Demon Stallion, for obvious reasons.

Gaze of Primal Terror

  • Cost: 3 motes, 1 Willpower
  • Duration: Instant
  • Type: Speech
  • Minimum Ride: 4
  • Minimum Moe: 2
  • Prerequisite Charms: Clutch the Mount's Soul

The Gothic Lolita’s pupils become feral, and she shows an expression so terrible it terrifies most steeds. All living mounts the Lolita within the Lolita’s sight range rear and bolt unless the players of their riders make successful Charisma + Ride rolls opposed by the Lolita’s Manipulation + Ride/Presence (whichever is lower). Even if they succeed, affected mounts remain skittish and add one to their Control Ratings for the rest of the scene. This increase is cumulative if the Lolita uses this Charm more than once in a scene. Gaze of Primal Terror does not scare the Lolita’s own mount, nor does the Charm have any effect on beasts other than pack animals or actual mounts.

Weight of Terror Prana

  • Cost: 4 points per mount, 1 Willpower
  • Duration: One scene
  • Type: Speech
  • Minimum Ride: 4
  • Minimum Moe: 2
  • Prerequisite Charms: Clutch the Mount's Soul

With a sharp look at a mount within range of sight, the Lolita strikes him with an almost-one-dimensional needle of Moe, which strikes the animal’s nerves and overloads its pain and pressure receptors. The steed cannot move any faster than a walk unless pushed for short, excruciatingly painful bursts by its rider. Weight of Terror Prana can affect multiple animals at a cost of 4 motes each. This Charm only affects pack animals and steeds, although magical beasts and those strengthened with magic are also immune.
