This artifact, rarely seen, is not a typical sling; instead, it is a long thread of glowing orichalcum. When touched to an object reflexively, sparks shoot from the end of the string and latch on, allowing that object to be lifted and hurled as if used normally in a sling. This sling allows a +4 to Strength + Athletics for purposes of feats of strength before charms apply for purposes of lifting its shot, and negates any accuracy penaties for improvised ranged weapons. This uses my Improvised Thrown Weapons rules by default to determine damage, for lack of something better.
