Keen Balance and Motion Prana
Cost: 3 motes Duration: One Scene Type: Simple Minimum Awareness: 3 Minimum Athletics: 2 Minimum Essence: 2 Prerequisite: Sensory Acuity Prana, Graceful Crane Stance
The Exalt gains a preternaturally heightened sense of balance and kinesthetics. The character may instantly know which direction is up, which direction is north, how fast he is moving and in what direction without a roll, as well as the precise position and angle of every joint in her body. This does not mean the character is any better at maintaining balance (that would be Graceful Crane Stance), but the added understanding does provide a +2 bonus to all Athletics rolls involving balance or precise motion. Additionally, the character can make an extended Perception + Awareness roll at difficulty 3 to recall and retrace her motion through kinesthetic memory alone, precisely recalling each turn, twist and straightaway with a single success.
Unsurpassed Balance and Motion Discipline
Cost: 5 motes Duration: One Scene Type: Simple Minimum Awareness: 5 Minimum Essence: 2 Prerequisite: Keen Balance Prana
The Exalt’s sense of balance and motion are enhanced to utterly inhuman levels, adding half his Perception (round up) in automatic successes to any Athletic rolls regarding balance and precise motion. Additionally, the character can now always retrace any motion taken or path traversed with perfect ease without any other information (such as landmarks, sounds, smells or tactile sensations), whether or not the original movement was taken under the character’s own power.
Total Balance and Motion Method
Cost: 10 motes Duration: One Scene Type: Simple Minimum Awareness: 5 Minimum Essence: 3 Prerequisite: Unsurpassed Balance and Motion Discipline
The Exalt’s mastery of the Essence of balance and motion are enhanced levels impressive even for the Exalted, adding his full Perception in automatic successes to any physical action (Dodge, Athletics, or attack or parry) regarding balance and precise motion. Additionally, the character can now always retrace any motion taken or path traversed with perfect ease without any other information (such as landmarks, sounds, smells or tactile sensations), and can plan out actions almost perfectly in advance - the character may make a Perception + Awareness roll at standard difficulty as his dice action to plan out the motion of a series of acrobatic feats, and divide the successes gained on this roll among each of those feats so long as he and any other sentient or unpredictable being performs no other physical action in the meantime. Multiple turns may be spent to plan the action even further (up to a maximum number of turns equal to the character's Essence), banking up more and more success dice. While spending multiple turns planning an action may not be feasable in combat, with enemies moving about in various situations, this effect can be extremely useful for avoiding traps, leaping from precipice to precipice, or otherwise performing improbable acts of coordination and timing.

A kinesthetic sense set is a welcome addition to the Awareness trees, and it makes a good deal of sense. For the second one, though, I'm leery of attribute-based bonuses. There's some precedent for it for solars, but personally, I'd go for Awareness, rather than Perception, in bonuses. I'd also either up the cost for UBMD or lower it for KBP. Also, if you'd like to, you're welcome to adapt a Total Balance Method from my SolarAwareness/IsawaBrian set. I take it these are more ambitions for Liu? -- IsawaBrian
- Oh Yes. And I chose Perception because it was identical to the wording of Unsurpassed Smell and Taste Discipline. Awareness is automatically going to be 5, so Perception is the only 'real' variable. I'm considering lowering it to Perception/2 (round down), since it *IS* a much more powerful effect than mere poison-detection. Also, you're right; Keen should be 3 motes. -Ialdabaoth
