Correspondence
A Correspondence, most commonly of a Virtue, is what your arguement is based upon. This describes what virtue (or other trait) best embodies the essential idea of your virtue. These can range from an appeal to compassion to convince someone to help feed your starving child, to an appeal to valor to convince a Dragon-Blooded to stand with you against the Deathlords.
Compassion
The tearful words of a former lover, asking for your aid in raising the child you've fathered. A woman on a street corner, loudly informing those gathered of the plight facing the refugees outside the cities gates. The soft voiced entreaties of a wounded beggar on a street corner, asking for a bit of coin to help him last another night. All of these are examples of Appeals based on Compassion. A Compassion Appeal is targeted at a marks sense of decency and empathy, with it's ultimate goal being to engender feelings of sympathy, guilt or a shared sense of suffering. A character making a Compassion Appeal is betting on the fact that he can make the mark care about whatever it is he's talking about and thus urge you on to action.
Conviction
Temperance =
Valor
The loud speech of an officer of the legions, lifting the spirits of the men under his command with reminders of past glories. A young wife's subtle play on her beloved’s sense of pride as she tries to convince him to help her brother. The hot spirited taunts of shouted by a member of a rival dojo, seeking to start a fight. All of these are examples of Appeals based on Valor. A Valor Appeal is targeted at a marks sense of pride, courage, and resolve, with it's ultimate goal being to convince the mark that the only way he has to meet the challenge placed before him is to engage it. A character making a Valor Appeal is hoping that he can egg the target on, pulling him into a situation without perhaps fully weighing the specifics.

As a quick suggestion, perhaps Temperance-correspondant Appeals play to the target's sense of decency or etiquette, whilst Conviction-correspondant Appeals entice their subject's ambitions and desires. It's a lovely system, and I can barely wait to see it finished...DeathBySurfeit
