So I'm looking at Exalted to run a Gem game and I get to reading Scavenger Sons.
It talks about how Gem has all these diamond mines and how they occasionally find the rare dreamstones and Yasal crystals too. Dreamstones, fine, I can see them working as BTL chips from SR, thats cool.
Then I get to Yasal crystals- stones which trap spirits inside them. And you can usually deal with the spirits so they give you a number of services in return for their eventual freedom, genie style. It also talks of how the nobles and DB's are the only ones who can collect such valuable rocks.
Then it hit me- a small band of ultra-priveleged nobles and teen-Dynasts engaged in an underground duelling circuit. Begging, borrowing or stealing their yasal crystals, these teens challenge each other to matches where they pit the might of their spirit arsenals against each other.
Dramatically stunting (obviously) they throw down their egg shaped Yasal Crystals, calling on the bound spirit to come forth and smite the opposing spirit!
