Crazy Logged Theories

·willows· i have been wondering if they know that they can be killed.
•haren• The Yozi?
·willows· yeah.
•haren• I'd say they probably know... no matter what, they will know, but I could see them somehow locking that knowledge away in a single soul
•haren• Sort of a way to keep them from being "infected"
•haren• It actually might depend on the Yozi, to be honest.
•haren• I can actually see a Yozi who's "invincibility" comes from their belief that they can't die... and so they have to hide that very fact that they can away from themselves.
•haren• But, that's just part of the whole idea that each has a weakness
·willows nods
•haren• I see Yozi as gems... each soul a facet... and very hard... but they can be broken if you know where and hit it just right
•haren• Second Circles are where facets meet... and each glint of light, each trapped mote is a First Circle
•haren• And I just realized... I made a funny parallel to the dimensions
·willows· hee
•haren• Well, let's assume that Yozi have some hidden dimension unique to them...
•haren• Then, Thirds have one less, and therefore 3... (keeping that hidden dimension... it's part of what makes them all a family), Second have two, and Firsts have one
• haren blinks...
•haren• I just realized... that's one more thing that Exalted have more in common with the Yozi than the Gods
·willows· oh?
•haren• And it would explain how they are more three dimensional or "humans" compared to the Gods.
•haren• In a way, how many "souls" do Gods have?
•haren• It goes beyond that though... Gods are what they are... no more no less.
·willows· i generally assume that a god is a part of something bigger.
•haren• Humans are like the Yozi in 3 ways... they have multiple souls, part that is tends to be more survival based, and part that's thought... and they are physical beings.... All Yozi are rooted in reality, because they are a big chunk of it...
•haren• But, humans don't have that mysterious "4th dimension"... but Exalted do.
•haren• Solars have the 4th dimension of Perfection... Lunars of versitility, persistance and shapeshifting... Sids of fate and "anal retentive"... DB of elemental...
·willows· aah.
·willows· that's a neat way to look at it
•haren• The Sun has his perfection, but that's all he has... he can't go beyond himself.
•haren• And in that way, the children surpass their parents... they have the potential to be very powerful, even Yozi-like... though that sort of scares me.
·willows· this came up on rpgnet...why people seem to think the exalts have more potential than gods.
•haren• The Sids are those that have the least accessable potential, even the DBs can grow more...
•haren• Because Gods are... well, for lack of a better word, they're like computers programed for a specific function that have some sentience... they know themselves, but probably can't even see how they're limited because part of their limit is to see their own flaws.
•haren• People rarely see themselves as they really are.... and I'm guessing it's the same for say MoSec, and other Incarnae. If they saw how they were limited, they might try to fix it... and that means they're ignoring their job.
•haren• So, as a budding creator who needs helpers to run stuff, how do you fix it? You make sure they can't see it. It's a blind spot. At worst, they'll make up excuses for the flaw...
•haren• Let me ask a question for you... Does the Unconquered Sun believe he can be beaten?
·willows· of course not. it's not in his nature to be beaten(:
•haren• Exactly!
·willows· similarly, Mars' strategems never fail if they are executed correctly;)
•haren• But, the Yozi did consider that the Gods in theory might attack them... and they Geased them... but, if you were a godlike alien intellegence, wouldn't you hedge your bets?
•haren• Why not put in a flaw that they would never see? The Gods' confidence in their areas is their own weakness... Jupiter believes there's nothing that can be hidden from her.
•haren• This also fits in (I'm realizing) with the theory that perhaps the Great Curse is on the Gods and not the Exalted... the Exalted are just a tool for their creator's destruction
•haren• Think about it, in theory, Autochthon could have hidden away like the Gods did... but instead he created an alternate dimension and locked the door very tight.
•haren• Who would know what the Malfeans or Yozi are capable than him and Gaia? And do you think he'd run and hide, considering how hard it probably is for him, if he thought anything less would do the job?
·willows· i don't really think any of the primordials think that carefully or humanly.
•haren• Oh, and what was the consensus? Exalts having more potential or not?
·willows· well
·willows· someone wanted to know where the idea came from that they were
·willows· lemme see where the thread ended up...
•haren• Well, true willows, but I'm not sure that means he wouldn't hide if it wasn't dangerous... I'm just guessing though, it might be part of a more complex plan.
•haren• Hmmm.....
•haren• This is birthing even stranger ideas
•haren• What if the Sid "dimension" wasn't fate...
·willows· sorcery is part of the great curse.
•haren• Hmm?
·willows· "...curse strength and attainable sorcery level track each other was a coincidence? Or that closeness to the Malfeans prevents the Yozi Curse from impacting so harshly, and thus also interferes with Sorcery..."
•haren• I was just thinking... what if Sids are capable of more than they are?
•haren• Let me elaborate, since that was vauge...
·willows· this on exalts being better than gods...
·willows· Actually, Sidereals and GoD both discuss the constant-Essence tendency of gods; it seems that they are, in fact, less flexible than the Exalted, in that a particular god will have the option to fulfill far fewer unique roles than a particular Exalt. Look at the staggering flexibility of the Eclipse Caste, or any Dragonblooded, or the Exalted facility with Martial Arts and Sorcery. These are all magics that are particular to the Exalted alone, and neither god nor mortal may touch them. (Well, MA is less sacrosanct than Sorcery, but that's because Exalted is a kungfu movie.)
·willows· In other words, we have no reason to think that mortal Essence is that cool, but the Exalts are a weird hybrid of god and mortal, and they are clearly superior to either. So why is this? Presumably because the Exaltation module works to enhance something specific to mortals - whatever gives heroic mortals access to thaumaturgy, increased Essence, Favored Abilities, and so forth.
•haren• What if their charms aren't limited because they are powerful and rewrite fate? This links in with the Yozi scripture idea.
•haren• What if it goes beyond just the scripture charms... what if in theory, there are greater "Yozi power stealing" Charms?
•haren• And this got a strange thought linked in.... what if SMA was basically (though they wouldn't realize it since they never went past the prayer strip charms) creating possible, but non-existant Yozi stealing trees to tap into their power?
·willows· that'd be an interesting result for greakthrough initiation.
•haren• The difference would be sutras are drawing on a possible Yozi, but they don't exist so they're limited to the tree as it is...
•haren• And here's a stranger thought
•haren• What if, they were birthing nanscent Primordials with each and every one?
•haren• A Primordial that is everything about Consuption.... or Decay....
•haren• It'd be a very slow process... but who knows... with enough people using and practicing an SMA style....
•haren• Wouldn't that just blow Jupiter's mind?
·willows· hee
•haren• So, what do you think... crazy as RSB?
•haren• I doubt it's a canon theory... but it's strangely appealing to me
•haren• And I have this image of a Sid actually trying to get the people to learn it and "ignite" the birth
·willows· hee
•haren• I'm also imagining there maybe being a Sid who knows (or guesses and worries)... and tries to prevent "too many" people from learning a style.

Actually, no-one knows themself for what they really are, nor do they know anyone else. Instead they know a black-box-like shell that they build up around themselves or as their perception of others, that is based in part on how they or that other responds to certain things, and in part on the contextual information available to them as part of their cultural, social, and genetic inheritance. IOW, Everyone has a "describing 'I'" and a "described 'I'", and a number of (described) "You"'s. And I don't want to try and think hard enough to give you all of the references on this. ^^;; Sorry! But this is a fairly non-unusual epistemological framework element. -Suzume
