A Eight Directions fire is contained in a 2x2x2 foot box of black iron with red jade inlays and coper handles.

The device is activated by inducing 1 mote of essence in specific points of the jade pattern and setting a time up to 2 hours. Doing so correctly requires a difficulty 5 lore+intelligence roll. When activated active pules of red light flow along the Jade patterns, one can determine the time until detonation with a difficulty 2 lore+intelligence roll. Diffusing the device requires spending 5 motes and a difficulty 6 lore+intelligence roll, 5 if you saw the device being set. The box has a 30L/30B soak and it takes 50 HL to damage it sufficiently so that it doesn't work.

When the set time is up the box explodes dealing 20L damage to any being within 10 yards. DV is subtracted from this damage. From this explosion emerge Eight lines of fire, racing out from the explosion in the 8 cardinal directions at 100 yards per tick. The lines of fire are 1 yard wide and up to 10 yards high and pass through any non magic obstacle, dealing damage like a bonfire. When the fires reach a distance of 2 miles from the center they stop for 10 ticks, before instantly widening until the entire area is covered in a flame. After 5 ticks the fire becomes mundane and stop burning if there is no flammable material left.

A Eighth Directions Fire is crafted with Craft(magitech) but also requires Craft(fire) 5.
