Gentle Release\\ Artifact ••••\\ Soulsteel Grimcleaver\\ w/o MM: Speed +3 Accuracy +3 Damage +8L Defense +1\\ w/ MM: Speed +3 Accuracy +4 Damage +8L Defense +1\\ Requires: Strength 2; Commitment: 8

10m - Add 2 times the Weilder's Melee skill to damage for a single blow (max +8). Essence must be spent before the attack roll is made and if the attack misses the essence is spent but lost.

When one lays eyes on Gentle Release there is no question about what it is a release from. This Soulsteel Grimcleaver (One Handed battle axe) is carved with Underworld Runes of compassion and succor up to within an inch of its wickedly sharp edge. The haft is also Soulsteel and the Axe is in fact all one piece.

I gotta tell you, I don't like the inbuilt supplimental charms. It just groks wrongness to me. Item abilities that cost no essence are cool. Items that have a 'simple' effect are cool (wave it in the air and it makes you look like a pretty princess simple/5m, etc.). But this effect just depowers the weapon and could be replaced by an adaquate charm. Also, looking at the book stats and ignoring the inbuilt charm, you've basically added (+3/+1/+0/+1) and 3 motes commitment to a Reaver Daiklave for two artifact points. That's a pretty hefty price to pay for a few piddly stat upgrades. Final verdict: underpowered/overpriced -- DODurden
